Chapter 10 I Can Feel It
- Torin frowned. Recalling the scene at the club that day, he asked, “Zinnia, what happened?”
- Immediately, Zinnia recounted how Jonah had used Torin to threaten her, sparing no detail.
- After Torin's imprisonment, Jonah approached Zinnia, asserting his influence in Hofcaster, even within the prison system. He explained that Torin had offended certain individuals, resulting in a ban on visitors.
- At first, Zinnia didn't believe it. Yet, as her visitation requests kept getting rejected, she gradually started to trust Jonah's words.
- Initially, Jonah had been patient, employing every possible method to pursue Zinnia. However, Zinnia's heart belonged solely to Torin, and she repeatedly rejected him.
- Jonah gradually lost his patience. From the second year onward, he started using Torin to intimidate Zinnia. However, every time, he couldn't produce any evidence that could pose a threat to Torin, leaving Zinnia in a state of uncertainty and doubt.
- From this year onward, Jonah frequently showed Zinnia some blurry videos of Torin in prison. He told her that Torin was having a tough time inside and if he didn't get out soon, he would surely die there.
- He consistently made these claims, and over time, Zinnia began to trust him. Today, he even deceived her by luring her into the club with an intimidating video.
- In an effort to save Torin, Zinnia had to swallow her pride and obey Jonah's orders. Thankfully, Torin arrived in time, but this led to a misunderstanding between them.
- A cold glint flickered in Torin's eyes after he listened to Zinnia's account. “Jonah! I will make him pay tenfold!”
- Zinnia heaved a soft sigh. “I was such a fool. Now that I look back, the videos Jonah showed me were all fabricated. The person in them wasn't even you.”
- “It was my fault. When I couldn't reach you initially, I should have had someone investigate.”
- Zinnia held him. “As long as you're free, I'm not afraid of any hardships.”
- Torin held her tightly in his embrace, his eyes filled with remorse. He owed Zinnia so much that he was determined to make it up to her.
- The two of them left the condominium, with Torin finding a hotel. In his current state, he didn't want Zinnia to face even the slightest inconvenience, which led him to book a suite in a five-star hotel.
- As soon as Zinnia stepped into the hotel room, she couldn't help but notice its exorbitant price. She turned to Torin and urged, “Torin, let's switch rooms. This one is too expensive.”
- “Zinnia, I promise to work hard and earn money in the future. I'll make you the happiest woman in the world.”
- A surge of joy filled Zinnia's heart as she threw herself into Torin's arms, holding him tightly.
- Torin had spent three years in prison, during which he hadn't been with a woman. Now, with the woman he loved in his arms, he naturally couldn't control himself. In no time, they both found themselves on the large bed, passionately expressing their longing and love for each other.
- Over an hour later, Zinnia was drenched in sweat, curled up in Torin's arms like a kitten. Her lips curved into a subtle expression of satisfaction and tranquility.
- “Torin, you must have had a tough few years, haven't you?” she asked softly.
- Torin casually said, “That's nothing. Zinnia. I didn't waste my time in prison. During those three years, I was constantly training in martial arts and studying medicine.”
- Zinnia was curious. “Martial arts? Medicine?”
- Torin nodded. “Yes, and it's medical and martial arts skills that far surpass those of this era.”
- Filled with curiosity, Zinnia listened as Torin slowly recounted his experiences from the past few years.
- Lately, Zinnia had been extremely anxious and worn out. She hadn't been able to rest properly, and before she knew it, she had fallen asleep while listening.
- After making sure she was comfortably tucked in under the blanket, Torin hailed a cab and headed home. That night, he still had to prepare medicine and administer acupuncture for his older brother, Silas, in hopes of speeding up his recovery from paraplegia.
- Yvette was still awake, keeping vigil by Silas' side. Seeing Torin return, she leaped up in joy. “Uncle Torin!”
- Torin lifted her up. Picking up the bag in his hand, he asked with a smile, “Yvette, guess what this is?”
- In the five-star hotel restaurant, there was an array of snacks available. Torin knew that Yvette must not have had her dinner yet, so he bought some of the snacks that children tend to love and brought them along. While he was at it, he also packed a dinner for Silas.
- Yvette unwrapped the meal package and her eyes lit up, curving into crescent moons as she smiled. “Wow, they all look delicious. Thank you, Uncle Torin!”
- Torin turned on the television, allowing Yvette to watch cartoons while she ate.
- After Silas had his meal, Torin continued his treatment and had him drink another bowl of medicine. During the process, Silas could feel a slight warmth spreading from his waist down.
- His eyebrows shot up, a mix of surprise and delight etched on his face. He asked, “Torin, I can feel it! I feel a warmth down my waist!”
- Ever since he was injured, he had lost all sensation below his waist. Now that he could feel again, he was naturally overwhelmed with excitement.
- Torin said, “Silas, you'll recover soon. Today, you'll be able to control your own bowel movements.”
- Silas was extremely thrilled. “I can control my bodily functions?”
- “Just wait a little longer.”
- Torin's expression was grave as he swiftly inserted thirty-six needles into Silas. Under the stimulation of the silver needles, Silas' abdomen began to heat up and swell.
- Approximately ten minutes had passed when he surprisingly felt the urge to relieve himself. “I can feel it!”
- Torin said, “Silas, you will only get better and better.”
- Silas, a man renowned for his resilience, unexpectedly began to weep softly. Fearing that Yvette might overhear, he stifled his sobs as best he could.
- Torin's voice trembled as he tried to console his brother. “Silas, don't cry. Yvette will hear you.”
- Silas' body shook violently. It took a while before he regained his composure. For three years, he had been living a life worse than death. If it weren't for Yvette, he might not have been able to hold on until now.
- Seeing hope for recovery now, he wept with overwhelming joy.
- After Yvette finished her meal, Torin spent some additional time playing with her before tucking her into bed in her room. That night, he stayed in Silas' room to take care of him.
- Throughout the night, he massaged Silas every hour, aiding in his swift recovery. Prior to this, he had performed a form of acupuncture known as Vitality Renewal Needle, which helped reconnect a portion of Silas' nerves. However, for a full recovery, this needed to be supplemented with further massages and medication.
- The following morning, the caregiver Zinnia hired for Silas arrived. Torin instructed the caregiver to look after Silas, while he took Yvette to kindergarten.
- After seeing off Yvette, he then went to the hotel to find Zinnia.
- Upon waking up, Zinnia noticed Torin had returned and chuckled. “Torin, I had no idea you left yesterday.”
- Torin said, “I went back to treat Silas. Zinnia, I can't thank you enough for looking after Silas and Yvette while I've been away these past few years.”
- “It's inconvenient for me to take care of Silas, so I hired a caregiver. Poor Yvette, losing her mother at such a young age.”
- A wave of sorrow flickered in Torin's eyes, but it was quickly replaced by a cold, hard gaze. “My parents and sister-in-law won't die for nothing. Jonah will pay with his life.”
- As he was speaking, he received an email on his phone. The day before, he had asked someone to investigate Jonah, and the content of this email was all about Jonah and his family's information.
- He glanced briefly at the email, his voice frosty as he said, “Jonah is truly despicable! Today, I will make him regret ever being born!”
