- Miranda’s face fell, and she put her teacup down heavily. “But she’s pregnant with Connor’s child, and Connor’s not exactly young anymore. And he almost never gets in touch with any girl. If you’re not letting Hannah marry him, Connor will die childless. Do you know what that means for the family?”
- “Any woman can get pregnant. Connor won’t be childless without her.” Isabelle refused to budge. “You have no idea the kind of woman Hannah is. I’ve looked into her case. She used to be Sebastian’s fiancée. And do you know why he broke up with her? Because she got involved in a nude loan. I can’t let this kind of woman marry Connor, or it’ll be a stain on the family’s name. Now she wants to marry Connor? Over my dead body.”
- Miranda frowned. She thought Isabelle only objected to the relationship because of her gold-digging attitude, but she never expected Hannah to be Sebastian’s ex-fiancée, nor did she expect her to be involved in a nude loan. This is going to be troublesome. Miranda continued sternly, “She looks like a nice girl to me. Not the sort who will get into nude loans. There must be some sort of misunderstanding. Why don’t we call Connor back and—”
