Chapter 6 I Will Definitely Not Sell It

  • “I haven't had much of an appetite lately. If you don't like the dishes, feel free to ask Wendy to make you something else,” Serena said.
  • “No need. I'm fine as long as it's enough to eat,” Benjamin said, shaking his head.
  • While eating, Benjamin pondered for a moment before asking, “Is there a problem at the office?”
  • Serena set down her fork, nodded her head, and tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear as she said, “There's been a bit of an issue with the company. Skyline Group has always been interested in acquiring my company. However, the company is a legacy from my mother, and I will definitely not sell it to the Yandell family.”
  • “Yeah; you should aim to make the company the wealthiest in Junbert, in the country, and in the world,” Benjamin said with a smile.
  • Upon hearing his grandiose declarations, Serena couldn't help but shake her head and chuckle. “It's not as easy as you think!”
  • Benjamin remained silent. Serena had always treated him with politeness and humility, but that was in itself a form of cold rejection, pushing him miles away.
  • Inside a private room of Junbert's The Ascent, a man, impeccably dressed in a suit and sporting gold-rimmed glasses, sat on the couch.
  • Across from him was another man, clad in a white Armani suit. He had a fair and clean-cut appearance, yet he exuded a somewhat mysterious aura.
  • “Mr. Yandell, I have already persuaded Serena's relatives to talk to her about it, but she seems to be stubbornly resistant,” Winston said while adjusting his glasses that glinted sharply in the light.
  • Theodore took a deep breath. “If we successfully acquire Grace Cosmetics, I'll give you ten percent of the shares. However, I'm afraid Serena might not be fond of you anymore.”
  • “At that time, she'll be all alone and vulnerable. I just need to employ a little strategy, and in the end, she'll have no choice but to submit. Such women are simply disgraceful, sticking to a worthless man and refusing to divorce,” Winston said in a sinister tone.
  • Theodore nodded. “You handle the rest. Since Serena doesn't know what's good for her, she can't blame me for being ruthless!”
  • “Sure; I'll arrange it as soon as possible,” Winston said, a sly smile playing at the corners of his mouth. He quickly added, “Oh, and there's another thing to report. Benjamin has crossed paths with Trey, and reportedly gave him quite a beating.”
  • “Benjamin has crossed paths with Trey? The one under Tristan's command?” Theodore asked, squinting his eyes.
  • Winston nodded, replying, “Yeah; I heard that Benjamin has been secretly working out and practicing combat arts. The fact that he managed to take down Trey was quite a surprise to me.”
  • Theodore felt as if he had just heard the funniest joke ever. “Ha! Working out? Combat arts? Does he really think he can join Combat Arts Alliance, with his abilities?”
  • “Trey is Tristan's favorite, so Benjamin injuring Trey is essentially a direct insult to him. He's not likely to just sit back and do nothing about it,” Winston said with a cunning smile.
  • Theodore narrowed his eyes into a sharp gaze as he said, “It would be best if Tristan and the Zabel family fought amongst themselves. Then, the Yandell family can just sit back and reap the benefits. Tristan has always been at odds with my father. If it weren't for the expert by his side, he would have been eliminated long ago.”
  • The following day, the sun blazed fiercely, with clear skies stretching as far as the eye could see.
  • Jamore's mansion district was developed by Elite Land Investments, a company owned by Junbert's wealthiest man, Christopher Larson. The district was vast, encompassing a natural lake view, catering to the desires of both the affluent middle class and the crème de la crème of wealth.
  • For instance, the mansion where Serena resided was located on the northern side of Jamore's mansion district, which was rather ordinary. However, the western side was home to the most luxurious mansions. One wouldn't be able to acquire a unit without at least tens of millions.
  • In the direction of the mansions to the west, the air was filled with a misty haze. By the scarcely populated lakeside, a man and a woman stood. The man, in his early seventies, sported a head of silver hair. He was dressed in a white silk traditional outfit, his eyes gleaming with a sharp intensity. His demeanor was akin to that of a tiger surveying his terrain.
  • Standing next to him was a young woman in her early twenties. She was dressed in Adidas sportswear, her hair tied back in a neat ponytail. With an oval face and a pair of lively, beautiful eyes, she could certainly be considered a natural beauty.
  • “Grandpa, is it really that hard to train as a combat arts practitioner? I'm already twenty and I still haven't mastered the internal force,” the girl exclaimed with a look of frustration clouding her face.
  • The old man was amused by her words, his eyes revealing a tender, loving gaze as he chuckled. “Haha! You, my dear, were already mastering the art of external force at the tender age of twenty, and overcoming internal force is just a matter of time. Yet, you're still not satisfied. You're indeed a first-rate prodigy, joining Combat Arts Alliance shouldn't be a problem for you. You should know, some people can't even master internal force until they're forty.”
  • Upon hearing the old man's words, a satisfied smile graced Gabriella Lockwood's charming face. She giggled and said, “Grandpa, you mentioned that when one's combat skills reaches the Grandmaster Realm, one could harness the wind as a blade, use plucked flowers and fallen leaves as weapons, and even walk on water?”
  • The elder sighed deeply. “Of course, it's possible. However, such masters rarely walk among the common world. They are one in a million, not so easily encountered.”
  • Suddenly, both of their gazes simultaneously fell upon the lake situated three hundred meters away. Amidst the dense fog, a vague shadow of black emerged.
  • “Grandpa, is that person walking on the water?” Gabriella exclaimed in surprise.
  • Arthur Lockwood's jaw nearly hit the floor. Just moments ago, he had been discussing how such extraordinary individuals were rare to come by, and now, one had appeared right before his eyes. It was utterly unbelievable.
