Chapter 15 The Confrontation

  • After taking a sip of red wine, Winston furrowed his brows in concern. “But sooner or later, Serena is going to find out...”
  • “Are you afraid that she'll despise you and refuse to be yours?” As these words were spoken, Theodore put down his glass, responding with a hearty laugh. “Rest assured, I have ways to make her desperate to have any man.”
  • A sly grin spread across Winston's face. “I'm merely interested in having some fun with her, but this arrogant woman kept rejecting me as if she were some virgin. However, Benjamin is quite the fighter. Do you think he'll come seeking revenge on us?”
  • Theodore took a puff of his cigar, replying disdainfully, “A good fighter? He's nothing more than a brute. Besides, everything needs to be done according to the rules these days. Even if he is a combat arts practitioner, he is still under the jurisdiction of the Combat Arts Alliance.”
  • “You're right.” Winston laughed heartily. “No matter how formidable he is, he's still only human.”
  • “By the way, did you manage to sort out that matter for me?” Theodore squinted his eyes and grinned. “That young lady's scent was pretty nice.”
  • Winston added, “Rest assured, Mr. Yandell, that young girl comes from a simple farming family with no connections. With a bit of money and a little intimidation, her entire family will be too scared to utter a word.”
  • Three months ago, Theodore took a fancy to a high school student. Through some manipulation, he managed to sleep with her, but things went awry when the young girl attempted suicide by jumping off a building. It took quite a bit of effort to cover up the incident.
  • “Well done. Once I've acquired Serena's company, you'll be the CEO.”
  • Suddenly, a burst of arguing voices echoed from outside.
  • “Mr. Yandell is inside. If you're a friend of his, I need to inform him first before you can enter.”
  • Bang!
  • As they were speaking, two shadowy figures flew into the private room, writhing on the floor in agony. Both Theodore and Winston's faces changed instantly. The ones lying on the floor were the bodyguards Theodore had stationed outside.
  • He had offended countless people in his business dealings, which was why he always had bodyguards by his side.
  • “Benjamin!” Winston exclaimed, a hint of surprise flashing across his face when he saw who it was walking into the private room.
  • Before stepping out, Benjamin had given Sterling a call. Sterling had left his number when they last met at Virtue Gardens, seemingly in hopes that Benjamin would reach out to him once he had thought through the matter.
  • Benjamin had reached out to him, only inquiring about Theodore's whereabouts. For Tristan to be doing well in Junbert, he naturally had his ears to the ground; finding out about Theodore's movements was a trivial matter for him.
  • “You're here too?” Benjamin stared at Winston, a cold glint flashing in his eyes. “I should have realized sooner that you betrayed Rena.”
  • Winston's face turned awkward as he suddenly sneered, “So what if you know? I've always been devoted to Serena, but I can't fathom how she could possibly be attracted to a loser like you.”
  • “So, you're saying the issues that arose within the company were your doing? Were you also the one responsible for the company's goods being seized?” Benjamin asked.
  • Theodore clapped his hands and laughed heartily. “That's right. I did it all. Your wife's refusal to know what's good for her led us here. If she had sold me the company earlier, I could've saved myself some trouble. But no, she had to push it until the company goes bankrupt. In the end, it will still end up in my hands.”
  • Benjamin shook his head, saying, “The reason I'm here today is to give you an opportunity. Return the company to Serena and apologize to her. Otherwise, I'll make sure you regret it for the rest of your life.”
  • Upon hearing Benjamin's words, Theodore and Winston exchanged glances, as if they had just heard a colossal joke.
  • “Who do you think you are, Benjamin? Do you still consider yourself the scion of the Zabel family? You're nothing more than a piece of trash sent by the Zabel family to Junbert. If you still held any status within the family, I might have hesitated to lay a finger on Serena, but now you're nothing more than a discarded pawn. Even if I were to kill you, the Zabel family couldn't care less about it.” A sinister smile appeared on Theodore's face.
  • “The Zabel family has nothing to do with me, and I certainly don't need to rely on them. As for dealing with you... it's as easy as snapping my fingers,” said Benjamin, clenching his fists as an icy glint flashed in his gaze.
  • Upon hearing his words, the four bodyguards inside the private room simultaneously stepped forward. Their eyes glared menacingly at him.
  • Winston sneered, “Benjamin, I know you can fight well. I'm not sure where you've picked up your combat skills from, but can you take on ten or twenty people at once? If you don't want to end up crippled, I suggest you kneel down and bow your head to Mr. Yandell. Maybe even polish his shoes with your tongue. If you're lucky, Mr. Yandell and I might just spare your life out of kindness.”
  • “I've made myself perfectly clear,” Benjamin said, his gaze as cold as ice, as if he was looking at two insects. “If you refuse to apologize, you'll have to face the consequences.”
  • Theodore clapped his hands together, a devilish smile spreading across his face. “Over the years, I've encountered many like you who love to brag,” he said. “However, their ultimate fate has always been the same—kneeling before me and begging for forgiveness.”
  • After he spoke, Theodore's face suddenly turned vicious. With a single look from him, the other four bodyguards in the room immediately drew their weapons from their waists and lunged at Benjamin.
