- By the time I landed on the ground floor, those girls had already vanished into thin air. I balled my hands into fists resting on my sides as anger fuelled my veins. Oh, how foolish of me to expect that everybody would treat me nicely in this new environment. I had undergone betrayal and pain more than I deserved—both emotional and physical, so I must practice being more suspicious. I shouldn’t be trusting anyone, not even Alpha Calle because although he had provided shelter for me, his real intention was still unknown to me.
- “Relax, Daphne . Try to forget about what happened. Don’t make a big deal out of it.” I closed my eyes and breathed deeply. I must not allow anyone to ruin my day, especially my first day of school.
