• Sebastian and Dolton sit in the back of the car with me, their presence steady but tense. Jonathan is seated across from us, his gaze fixed on the passing shadows outside, his body tight with vigilance. The guards in the front exchange clipped words over the comms, coordinating with the convoy ahead and behind us.
• I can’t shake the image of that creature from my mind. Its grotesque form—the fur-covered, human-like body and dragon-shaped face—still haunts me. Worst of all, it knew my name. That knowledge, whispered in its distorted voice, pierces deeper than anything else.
