• “Don’t,” Alex says softly from his cell. “If they get out, they’ll hunt Dolton down. Don’t let that happen.” His voice holds a quiet plea, but Wes snarls, cutting him off.
• “Shut it, boy!” a new voice booms, louder and more commanding. My heart skips as I turn to see Richard, their father, sitting in another cell. His dark eyes glint with malice as he leans forward. “Come here, girl,” he says, his voice slithering with false sweetness. “I have something to tell you about your mum.”
