- His reluctance to divulge everything is frustrating. “If I don’t know all the details, how can I possibly help?” I say, my tone sharper than intended. I need the full truth, or this search is doomed to fail.
- He fidgets in his seat, his gaze darting to the floor. “Her blood,” he begins hesitantly, “it’s... deadly. When she was younger, she fell ill. Very ill. We paid thousands for a doctor to examine her. He ran tests, took vials of her blood...” He swallows hard, his voice trembling. “Her blood acted like pure wolfsbane.”
