- Regret weighs heavily on me for even considering leaving her. I felt it was the right decision at the time, to spare her the complications I would bring, but now, sitting here, looking at her, I feel the sting of cowardice. Her presence is like a balm to my soul, a connection I can’t sever. Smiling softly, I pull her closer, my hands resting gently on her waist. “I apologize,” I say, my voice barely above a whisper.
