Chapter 43 The Ex

  • Hannah Morales woke up hours later to an empty room, the aftermath of her outburst hanging heavy in the air. She lay there for a moment, staring at the ceiling, feeling the weight of guilt settle in her chest. She hadn't meant to lash out at Serenity. It just happened, and now she regretted every word.
  • She threw the covers off and got out of bed, her mind racing. She had to get out of here. Out of Everton. Maybe some distance would help clear her head. She staggered to where her clothes laid on the ground. She searched and hurriedly changed into a pair of jeans and a comfortable t-shirt, grabbed her suitcase, and started tossing the rest of her belongings into it. She zipped up the suitcase, took a deep breath, and walked toward the door.
  • Just as she opened it, Serenity who had her back pressed against the door looking exhausted and worried, stumbled in. Hamnah froze for a moment, staring down at her tired lover. Serenity immediately rose to her feet, dusting her pants. Her gaze shifted to Hannah's hand holding her suitcase, a frown forming on her forehead.
