Chapter 7 Homecoming

  • Adhara was completely nervous about what she had done, besides, she feared that her family would scold her for staying in the street all night, and since she didn't have a phone, she didn't know if they had tried to contact her.
  • So, when Adhara got out of the car, she was afraid of being scolded for such a prank that she had never done, not even when she lived alone miles away. Carefully, she knocked on the door when she realized that she did not have her house keys and it was the butler who opened the door.
  • “Miss Adhara, where did you spend the whole night? And those marks?”
  • Embarrassment completely invaded Adhara when the butler, who had basically raised her, pointed out the marks that Jareth had left on her in a moment of extreme pleasure.
  • “I’m sorry to tell you this, but can you help me change before my father sees me like this?”
  • “Go through the service door and give me a few minutes while I get you some clothes.” says John, the butler, and Adhara thanks him.
  • As they had agreed, Adhara waits at the service door and when he opens it, she sees one of her suitcases and immediately, entering one of the free rooms for the service, she gets dressed and goes out to greet the butler with a hug.
  • “I thought I would go crazy if you weren't here.”
  • “I couldn't leave knowing you'd be back.” says John returning the hug.
  • “How are things at home? Is my father very angry?”
  • “Mr. Simpson isn't in the country and I'm sorry to tell you, but from what I hear, he doesn't remember you arriving yesterday.”
  • “And my stepmother? “
  • “She arrived a short time ago.”
  • “She didn't spend the night here either?” Adhara asks and the butler nods.
  • “I'm going to tell you because living here, you will realize everything that happens here. So, I will give you a general idea of the panorama of this hell.”
  • “What's going on?”
  • “The lady leaves every time the gentleman goes on his business trips and because of her smell, she's not going to have sleepovers with her girlfriends.”
  • “What does my father say about it?”
  • “Who dares to tell him that if he only believes what his wife tells him?”
  • “God, what a mess, when is my father coming?”
  • “Today, miss.”
  • “Where were my bags?”
  • “I had kept them in my room, for fear that your sister would do something to them.”
  • “Yes, I was worried she'd steal my clothes too.”
  • “I beg your pardon?”
  • “Nothing. I need a favor, Mr. John.”
  • “Tell me, miss.”
  • “I need an interior designer and a company to fumigate my room. I need to eradicate cockroaches and any other pests my sister has left behind by using my room.”
  • “Oh, so you know your father gave you that room.”
  • “He gave it to her?” Adhara asks in surprise.
  • “Yes, what happens is that Miss Emma said she couldn't sleep because her room was too small and hot. So, her father gave her his.”
  • “What do you mean it was too small? After my father's room and mine, hers is the biggest.”
  • “Well, his sister was able to persuade him with tears. So...”
  • “Well, now things are going to change. Get me what I've asked for as soon as possible. I want them to be in my room by the time my father arrives.”
  • “As you wish, miss.”
  • “Thank you, Mr. John.”
  • “And miss, welcome home.” says the butler smiling and Adhara turns to hug him for the warm welcome.
  • “Thank you for reminding me that in this cold place, there is a warm flame that lights up when I arrive.” Adhara says and then leaves the service area.
  • “I promise you, on my husband's next trip, we're going to have a very nice evening, honey. Just wait a little longer.” my stepmother says and I stand in the doorway.
  • “I assume you're talking to my father, since you call him honey.” Adhara says and Carrier turns her body in surprise.
  • “Oh, my. You scared the hell out of me.” Carrier says quickly hanging up the call and so Adhara approaches her stepmother.
  • “Are you talking to my father?”
  • “Yes, I am.” says Carrier, sweating profusely.
  • “Can I borrow your phone?”
  • “What for?”
  • “I want to know what time he arrives and I don't have my phone to call him.”
  • “You can use the house phone.”
  • “Yes, but, I still haven't learned his number, instead, since you just called him, it will appear in the last call log. So, please, Mrs. Carrier, can I borrow your phone?”
  • The door of the house opens and from there, an elderly man appears with his face aged and coughing. So, Carrier runs to her husband, escaping Adhara's request.
  • “Honey, I'm so glad you're home. I was wondering what time you'd be here.”
  • “How strange, you just talked to him telling him that when your husband went on another trip, you would give him an amazing evening and now, you talk to him as if you haven't talked to him for weeks, do you guys like role playing or something?”
  • “What are you talking about, Adhara?” her father asks.
  • “Don't pay attention to him, he's just playing.”
  • “Yes, he is. I'm playing.” Adhara mutters, staring at her stepmother.
  • “When did you arrive?”
  • “Yesterday, after the graduation ceremony.”
  • “Oh, you were graduating yesterday? I thought you had a couple of years to go, daughter.”
  • ‘Pretend it doesn't hurt that your father doesn't know about you and at some point it will stop hurting’ Adhara says to herself mentally.
  • “No, I graduated yesterday.”
  • “Congratulations then.”
  • “For that, I spent money last night.”
  • “How much money?” Carrier asks worriedly and Adhara ignores her.
  • “And if it's not too much to ask, I want to remodel my room. It's just that I saw some nasty things in it.”
  • “Honey, that's not your room anymore.”
  • “Isn’t it?” Adhara asks curiously.
  • “Emma said you gave it to her," says the eldest Simpson.
  • “It was never like that, but I assume that, as my fiancé, I took it without permission.”
  • “Adhara!” shouts Carrier in outrage and Adhara sighs deeply.
  • ‘Be strong and do everything you can to regain the ground that has been taken from you’ she says to herself mentally.
  • On the other hand, Jareth stands up and looking for the woman next to him, he touches the bills and because of that, he stands up looking at the bills and the note he immediately crumples.
  • “So, I'm a gigolo for her. Right now, I'm going to find out who she is and make her pay for this offense” he mutters with indignation, while his body aches.
