Chapter 4 That's Sucks

  • Adnan kicked the door of the room violently, startling the three people on the sofa. "Where are your manners?" snapped one of them sternly.
  • Laura swallowed hard; it wasn't just Jack who was there. Liam and his assistant were also there. Liam Argantara was Jack's older brother, a young billionaire. Liam's stern and cold disposition could make anyone afraid when they saw him. But not Adnan, who had the same disposition as Liam.
  • "I don't care about that! All I want is accountability for my daughter.
  • Liam still looked flat and relaxed in his place. Unlike Jack, who was agitated, he kept staring at Laura. It's as if he's telling her to shut up and not mess with him.
  • "What do you mean?" Liam asked without expression.
  • "My daughter is pregnant! And she says her boss is responsible for it."
  • Liam gave his brother a look that was hard to interpret, then sighed harshly. "There are three people here; just point," he ordered easily.
  • "Alright, Laura. Show me who's responsible for all this!"
  • Laura froze in place, her heart beating erratically. Even though her hands and feet were shaking violently from holding back tears, Laura didn't have the courage to look up. Let alone point at Jack in front of them.
  • "Laura, hurry up; don't waste papa's time!"
  • The yelling frightened Laura. Laura decided to reveal the whole truth, not caring about Jack's reaction after this. The woman slowly raised her hand, her eyes already closed tightly, not wanting to look at anyone there. Embarrassed—that's how she felt.
  • "Oh, so you are!" Adnan stepped up to the person Laura had just pointed at, beating the person blindly.
  • Sensing the commotion in the room, Laura opened her eyes. Her gaze was centered on Adnan, who was beating Liam, not Jack. Laura wondered to herself what was really going on.
  • "Papa, enough! Why are you beating Mr. Liam?" asked Laura, frantically trying to get her father away from Liam.
  • "You appointed him, Laura! So he should be responsible for everything.
  • Laura froze for a few moments, not blinking an eye. Her brain was having trouble digesting what she had just heard. With what was left of her courage, Laura looked up at Jack, who was standing not far away. With all his ego, the man glared at Laura. He moved his mouth silently, telling her to keep quiet.
  • "Papa, but--"
  • "Father doesn't care! He should be responsible for marrying you!"
  • While Liam rubbed the corner of his possibly bleeding lip, his sharp eyes looked at Laura. But instead of focusing on the necklace she was wearing, memories of the past played back in his head. Liam closed his eyes for a moment, then said, "Alright, I'll take responsibility." What is this? Liam spoke as if there was no burden.
  • Liam's words just now made Laura's eyes wide open; how could he make such an easy decision? Even though it wasn't Liam who should be responsible for everything that happened, Laura was silent in her place; she was confused about whether to be happy or sad.
  • "Alright, you guys will get married as soon as possible. I will take care of everything," Adnan said. He pulled Laura's hand, asking her to leave.
  • "Let's go home, Laura!"
  • "Sorry, papa, I need to talk to Mr. Liam for a moment." Laura released her father's grip on her hand.
  • Adnan thought for a moment but finally nodded in agreement with Laura's request. He left the room alone, leaving Laura still in the room.
  • Shortly after, Jack innocently walked out of the room as well, completely ignoring Laura's condition.
  • Now Liam and Laura were left in the room, the young billionaire sitting casually on the sofa. He didn't seem at all angry or upset about the incident, which made Laura even more clueless about the man.
  • "I'm sorry, sir. Why do you want to marry me when you're clearly not the one responsible for me?" Laura said straight to the point.
  • Liam looked at Laura flatly. He shrugged his shoulders indifferently. Then he shook his head. "Because I want to," he replied casually while sipping a cup of coffee.
  • "But--"
  • "Shut up and go away; you should be thanking me; don't ask so many questions," Liam said sarcastically.
  • Laura sighed harshly, chose to remain silent, and walked out of the room. There was no point in talking to that cold and haughty man; all she could do was surrender and go with the flow.
  • ***
  • In a towering building, the wedding ceremony was held luxuriously. The design of the room was very glamorous, with rose gold shades. Many invited guests and journalists were present there. Just to witness the wedding of a famous billionaire with a famous businessman's son, Liam Argantara, with Laura Stefhanie.
  • The wedding was held lavishly with various event sessions, and Liam and Laura's families looked happy with their children's marriage. But not the bride and groom, both of whom were as silent as statues. There was no chatter at all between them.
  • Liam looked very beautiful wearing a very luxurious white gold dress, and the makeup on her face also made her look like an angel. But Laura's beauty was not able to make the ice cube melt; the proof was that Liam had no intention of looking at Laura at all.
  • "Congratulations, Laura! You're finally married; you must be happy to be married to a handsome billionaire," said Floren, congratulating Laura on stage.
  • Happy? Laura didn't feel that way at all; all she felt was upset and sad. But she smiled, even though she wanted to run away from the wedding.
  • "Thanks for coming, Flo," Laura said with a forced smile.
  • "Yes, I hope you guys continue to be happy," said Flo excitedly, then she got off the stage in turn with the other guests.
  • After Floren came down, it was Jack's turn to come up to congratulate her. Laura's eyes immediately heated up when she saw Jack in front of her. She wanted to cry and hit Jack at that moment. But she was helpless; all Laura could do was turn her face away.
  • While Liam was still holding on to his flat face, he didn't know when he would make an expression like everyone else. There wasn't even a smile on his face.
  • "Congratulations, Liam and Laura," Jack said, hugging Liam. then took turns hugging Laura, but Laura avoided wanting to be hugged.
  • "Thanks," Laura snapped back. She struggled to keep her tears from falling; she didn't want to cry for someone like Jack. The most important thing in her life right now was the child in her womb.
  • Laura looked away, reluctant to look at Jack, who was talking to her brother. Tightness filled her chest cavity, not expecting that the person she loved so much could do this to her. Laura loved Jack very much, but she didn't want to be stupid anymore. If hate could become love, then love could also become hate.
  • "I'll go first, and congratulations once again," Jack said once more, hugging Liam. Then he was about to hug Laura too, but she quickly avoided him.
  • Jack was silent for a while; actually, he realized why Laura was like that. She must have been disappointed with him. Jack still loved Laura; it was just that he couldn't take responsibility. Jack took a deep breath and left.
  • After Jack left, Laura could finally breathe a sigh of relief. Laura smiled again, even though she had to, welcoming the guests warmly and kindly. She smiled as if she were happy, but her heart was screaming with pain.
  • "Mr. Liam, is it still long? I'm tired of standing," Laura asked, looking up at Liam.
  • Liam gave her a quick glance, shrugging his shoulders dismissively. "Just sit down," he replied simply without looking at Laura.
  • Hearing that answer, Laura pouted her mouth in annoyance. What is this? Did Laura have to sit on the floor like a crazy person? Look at her chair downstairs while she's on the stage. Laura thought Liam would ask her to come down since the guests had already started to leave.
  • "That sucks."
