Chapter 7 Sky-High Monthly Allowance
- Ferdinand's words offended Agatha.
- She frowned and calmly reprimanded, "What nonsense are you talking about? How do you know she isn't marrying you on free will? Besides, I have asked a tarot reader to read your future. You make a perfect match!"
- Ferdinand snorted at the words "on free will". However, he couldn't be bothered to argue with his grandmother.
- He shrugged. "Sure. You can do whatever you want if you aren't worried about me killing my third wife."
- She was overjoyed to hear him agree. "Good! It's settled, then. I'll bring her in three days."
- He casually replied, "Whatever you say, Grandma."
- Since he couldn't find the woman he wanted, it didn't matter who he married in three days. After all, they only coveted his wealth.
- After speaking, he got up and walked away.
- …
- Three days later, Summer, who had been locked up, put on her wedding dress.
- When the Montgomery Family came to pick her up, the legendary cold-blooded killer was nowhere to be found.
- Instead, a kind and friendly woman took her to the car.
- She was taken to the newly decorated master bedroom upon arriving at the Montgomery Residence.
- She waited all day, but her groom never showed up.
- By nightfall, her uneasy heart was ultimately racing.
- Still, nobody showed up.
- She was weak after being starving for three days.
- The idea of her husband being a bloodthirsty killer caused her to shiver in fear.
- She was afraid that he would watch her in a corner. She was afraid that one small mistake would anger him and caused him to literally suck her dry.
- Still, she didn't want to starve to death.
- She spent almost a day in the room, but no one came.
- She thought nobody would find her absent if she acted quickly.
- At that, she slid out of the chair and tiptoed out of the room.
- To her surprise, she bumped into a toned chest as soon as she left the room.
- The dim light of the corridor illuminated the man's gloomy expression. She was almost lost in the depth of his eyes, which bore a hint of ruthlessness and danger.
- Most importantly, he was carrying a bloody corpse in his arms.
- Oh my god! He killed someone! The thought sent shivers down her spine.
- She recoiled and hastily said, "I didn't mean to bump into you! I didn't see anything due to my bad eyesight! Please go. I promise I won't tell anyone about our encounter or call the police!"
- Then, she turned around to enter her room.
- She was surprised when he suddenly called out to her. "Stop right there."
- His calm but authoritative voice made her tremble, and her heart hammered against her chest.
- "Please don't kill me. Is that money you want? M-My husband is very wealthy." She appealed to him in a shaky voice.
- Ferdinand's lips curled into a smirk at her words. Arching his brows, he teased, "Your husband?"
- Summer suddenly spun around to face him. "Yes, my husband is Ferdinand. He's a wealthy guy."
- His face darkened at her reply. Is she calling me her husband now? But I haven't even acknowledged her! Is she flaunting her status now?
- He put on a serious expression. "So, how much are you planning to give me?"
- Summer didn't hesitate to answer, "I'll give you all my savings to not kill me."
- "That sounds like a lot."
- Summer knew very well that her savings barely hit four digits. It wasn't even worth mentioning.
- She hung her head low, lacking the confidence to meet his eyes.
- "Nah. It's not that much. It's just my monthly allowance from my husband."
- Allowance? What is she talking about? Heh. She's quite entertaining.
- "How much does he give you as a monthly allowance?"
- "Eh… It's not much. Just ten thousand monthly." As Summer said so, she wished she could go back in time to stop herself from saying it.
- I'm digging my grave! I don't even have ten thousand in my bank! I'm doomed!
- Luckily, the footsteps that belonged to somebody who ascended the stairs saved her.
