Chapter 4 Going after Ferdinand's Wealth

  • Lawrence saw the marks on Summer's body too. Although he didn't love her, the noticeable marks stung his eyes nonetheless. He demanded, "What's happened, Summer?"
  • Summer found his accusing tone ironic.
  • She couldn't be bothered to answer him. "As you can see, I have a boyfriend. You didn't play me between us because I fooled you first."
  • Then, she covered her skin and walked away.
  • "Lawrence, do you understand now? Summer is a b*tch like her mother. Just like how her mother cheated back then, she cheated on you and betrayed you."
  • Abigail's words upset Grace. She pointed accusingly at Abigail and reprimanded, "Abigail, you just have to stoke the fire, don't you? Just because Mrs. Elledge is in a vegetative state doesn't mean you can backstab her and slander her. Fun fact. I was told Mrs. Elledge ran into the tryst of your mother and Summer's father before your mother pushed her down the stairs and put her in a coma. Lawrence is a moron to choose you over Summer."
  • After that, she followed Summer out.
  • After leaving the tent, Summer headed toward the beach.
  • She shed tears as she ran toward her destination, feeling extremely frustrated.
  • To be forced by a stranger and lose her virginity was already heartbreaking.
  • Then, she had to discover her boyfriend cheated on her with her archenemy, Abigail.
  • It added insult to injury and broke her heart into pieces.
  • Grace ran toward Summer and said, "Summer, you must not do anything rash."
  • Summer sobbed. "I won't. I won't give them the satisfaction of thinking they matter to me."
  • "Right. They deserve a payback. I can't believe Lawrence. How dare he take advantage of your feelings for him to pursue Abigail? It's like he doesn't care if it would hurt you!"
  • And that was the deal-breaker.
  • "Grace, stop! I don't want to talk about them."
  • "Okay." Grace comforted Summer, "Summer, cheer up. The sc*mbag doesn't deserve your tears."
  • It was an understatement to say Summer wasn't sad. After all, she wasted four years on Lawrence.
  • She was struggling to digest what she just learned.
  • Summer didn't want Grace to worry about her. "Grace, you should go to bed now. I need a moment alone."
  • "I'll stay with you," Grace offered.
  • Summer turned Grace down. "No need. I'll be fine."
  • Just then, her phone rang. It was a call from the hospital.
  • Summer answered the call, "Hello, Summer Elledge here. Did something happen to my mother?"
  • "Hello, Miss Elledge. The payment of your mother's medical expenses is overdue by a week. We'll discharge her from the hospital if you fail to make the payment."
  • A week! Summer was shocked. She didn't expect Abigail's mother to be so cruel.
  • "Okay. I get it."
  • After she hung up the phone, her cheeks turned red with fury.
  • Grace asked, "Is Mrs. Elledge all right?"
  • Summer explained, "Jade and my father didn't pay my mother's medical bill on time."
  • Grace was shocked. "Did they just threaten you to marry a guy by harming Mrs. Elledge?"
  • Summer clenched her fists. "They're unbelievable! That's inhumane!"
  • Half a month ago, Summer returned home to visit her mother, only to give Jade a chance to force her to marry Ferdinand Montgomery.
  • The entire Zlido knew he was a heartless, bloodthirsty monster.
  • He was impotent, unable to get an erection.
  • He had married two women. Both wives died on their wedding night after he tortured them.
  • Even so, people after his wealth were willing to leave their daughters at his mercy.
  • A perfect plan had formed in Jade's mind.
  • She coveted the Montgomery Family's wealth but feared Ferdinand would kill Abigail, so she forced Summer to marry him in Abigail's place.
