Chapter 361 Distance
- The letter felt heavy in my hand. I wasn't planning on opening it, despite noticing its presence. This letter belonged to Eliza, after all. But I was surprised Kiara could go without sensing this letter's absence. More surprising still was the fact that Eliza wrote a letter like she knew she didn't have long to live.
- I tucked the letter into my bag and entered the residence. A servant led me to the hall. Shawn had already placed his mother in the casket. After the lady of the house's funeral last time, this somber event was forced to be done quietly. He invited not a member of the branch families. Eliza was buried beside my father, though I thought she had no right to. But this wasn't the place to comment. Eliza was dead. Murdered. I was in no position to say anything.
- I stood outside the hall. Shawn was kneeling before his mother's casket, guarding over her. It had been a couple of harrowing years for us. My biological father, Shawn's mothers, and my biological mother left us in quick succession. Shawn and I had held four funerals thus far, including this one.
