Chapter 10 Brian Xavier
- “Ms. Greyson, you are a servant here. Call me properly.” Charles quickly got hold of his eyes snapping quickly from her wet shirt. “Know your place.” With that, he went away speedily.
- Emily’s cheeks were burning with humiliation.
- She was clearly misunderstood by him!
- In the corner, eyes had seen the scene.
- Rebecca was standing behind the curtain and her lips twitched upward.
- While on the balcony, Warren in his wheelchair saw everything.
- His eyes were sharp and mysterious.
- After serving Warren’s meal, and medicine and ensuring that Warren was all good, she quickly changed to her school uniform.
- When she got outside the mansion, a black Rolls-Royce was already waiting for her.
- On the side was an old man wearing a black coat and tie.
- Upon seeing Emily, she quickly opened the door in the backseat.
- Emily frowned.
- Seeing such an expensive car outside this rich mansion was not surprising anymore but a driver opening a door for her was something she felt troubled.
- Emily quickly looked around and behind her checking if the ride was for someone and not her but she saw no one.
- It is really for her!
- “Ms. Greyson, I’m Mr. Floss and I’m your assigned driver.” The old man politely introduced himself.
- “Oh… are you sure, Mr.?” In disbelief, she asked to confirm it.
- She had never ridden this kind of expensive car in her life.
- And a driver?
- Wow! It’s just too cool!
- But…
- She was in trouble.
- How could she explain this to her best friend Brian Xavier and her classmates who loved to bug her every day?
- Is every maid here treated like this?
- Or maybe she was just overthinking!
- Rich people… these cars were just nothing.
- “Ms. Emily, please… we have to leave or you will be late.” Mr. Floss saw her doubtful expression.
- Stop overthinking Emily!
- She shook her head and then ran toward the car.
- Finally, she arrived at school.
- To avoid senseless gossip, she asked Mr. Floss to drop her a bit far from the entrance gate.
- There, she could just walk safe from the intriguing eyes.
- Mr. Floss clearly understood her.
- A poor girl riding a luxurious car was something intriguing indeed!
- When Emily reached the gate, she quickly spotted Brian, her best friend.
- Brian purposely waited for her there.
- “B! What are you doing here?” Emily frowned smiling.
- “Isn’t it obvious? Waiting for the most beautiful girl on this campus.” Brian answered with a teasing smile and eyes were sparkling under the sunlight.
- Emily knew he was just joking.
- Brian Xavier was a varsity basketball player.
- He was the most sought-after guy on the campus.
- He took up Engineering because his family owned a construction business.
- His father was also an Engineer and as the only son, he was going to take over the company once his father decided to retire.
- “Stop joking! I am in a hurry or I‘ll be late.” Emily left in a hurry.
- Brian smiled behind her and shouted. “Let’s have lunch together, E! You know I miss you, right?” Brian shouted without minding the people around.
- “Wooohhhh!” Some students reacted cheering for Brian.
- Even in a hurry, Emily heard Brian but she just shook her head without looking at him again.
- She knew he was joking again.
- She raised her right hand and made a thumb down walking in a hurry.
- Entering her classroom, she could already hear familiar voices talking about the superstar.
- Emily quickly went to her seat at the back.
- “Oh my gosh!” Charlotte Steffan, the leader of the bitchy group stood up with one hand on her glimmering iPhone and the other on her waist. “Charles… my Charles is going to have a movie with that bitch Margaux Shell. What on earth is happening? That bitch is wicked!”
- “Yeah! It was indeed posted just last night. My mom said, that Margaux Hell was the one who wanted to be paired with our Charles otherwise she would not make the movie.” Lixie Bowel’s mom was known as a Deputy Manager of King Media.
- It was Charles’s company.
- All A+ list actresses and actors in the city were under this management including Charles himself.
- “No way! That bitch! It was too obvious that that woman was a leech! She will never stop until she can hook up with our superstar! I hate her to the bone!” Valerie Campbell butted in.
- She was the third member of the bitchy girls. “Should we kill her?” She added with malicious eyes.
- “Yeah! Charles should just choose between the three of us!” Driven by her excitement, Lixie said until she met Charlotte's wide eyes.
- She quickly felt wronged and quickly corrected what she said, “Charles is meant for Charlotte only! We should kill that Margaux Hell!” Afraid of the furious stare by Charlotte, she added in a hurry.
- These three bitches were all like Barbie-looking dolls.
- Classy, glamorous, popular, and chased by many suitors.
- Emily just sat quietly hearing all their words.
- Indeed, she saw the news about Charles last night.
- Her darling is a superstar so she needed not to be jealous but support him instead.
- The gossip said that Margaux Shell liked Charles so much.
- She did anything to get him and maybe this time, she finally succeeded.
- Like Emily, there were a lot of women who wanted to get Charles’s attention.
- These include the three bitchy girls, Margaux Shell, and all his fans.
- Emily just felt so lucky to be with the superstar every day without them knowing.
- Of course, no one should know!
- It’s strictly confidential!
- Otherwise, her dream will suffer a bad ending.
- Emily smiled feeling the luckiest among all Charles’s fans.
- “Emily, why are you smiling? Did you see a dollar bill on the road today?” Valerie saw her and mocked her immediately.
- “Oh, come on, Valerie! Let’s not waste time on this poor little thing!” Lixie quickly interrupted.
- She was known to have a crush on Brian so it was clearly a pretentious act.
- Charlotte just rolled her eyes and shrugged her shoulders at Emily meanly.
- Emily was aware that these rich kids didn’t want to be mixed up with the poor ones.
- She didn’t belong in this school from the start.
- It was just pure luck that she passed as one of their scholars.
- She just survived bullying because of Brian.
- Brian was famous and had many friends on the campus.
- Emily was known to be his best friend.
- No one dared to touch her directly but she knew people were eyeing at her every move ready to attack whenever she put her guard down.
- When she did a part-time job in the bar, it was only Brian who knew it.
- Brian required her to know all her whereabouts so he could protect or save her from any troubles.
- “E, are you okay?” Brian asked in a worried tone.
- “Same old… same old…” Emily simply replied.
- They were eating in the canteen. Emily was thinking if she had to tell Brian about her recent situation.
- That she was living under the same roof with Charles Adam.
- The contract she signed was strictly confidential.
- If Brian would know…
- Emily was caught in her deep thinking.
- Brian always got her back so he would not spill her secret.
- “E, why do I feel you have something in mind bothering you?” Brian was indeed sensitive.
- “Hmmm… There’s nothing. Come on, we have to finish quickly. I still have to do some assignments.” She quickly diverted the topic.
- Emily had planned to tell him if it was the right time.
- Everything was so sudden that even she was still trying to absorb everything.
- After lunch, the two headed to the library.
- Brian just looked at her doubting her words.
- He knew Emily for too long and he knew something was disturbing her.
- Sooner, he would find out.
- Finally, Emily’s last class was finished.
- It was 6 p.m. and she was in a hurry to return home before dinner.
- The mansion was just 30 minutes away so she had enough time to travel.
- When she was out of the gate, the black Rolls-Royce was already waiting in front of her.
- She was a bit stunned because she didn’t want it to be that way.
- Emily would prefer to take public transportation to the mansion to avoid unnecessary gossip.
- The problem was, that the mansion was located in a huge private compound uphill.
- No cabs except for residence’s private cars could enter inside.
- Since it was the usual dismissal, many students were hanging out in the outdoor parking.
- They were chattering and giggling.
- Others were kissing and flirting like they were the only people left in this world.
- Emily looked around if she could see familiar faces.
- Eyes were looking at the one-of-a-kind luxury car.
- Mr. Floss suddenly went out and opened the backseat door for her.
- Emily felt her cheeks were bursting with hotness.
- All she wanted to do was to run away but a sharp thought stroke her.
- She needed to go inside quickly before the crowd grew in numbers.
- This must not happen again!
- How could a poor girl afford such a luxury?
- Left with no choice, she quickly covered her face with her book in hand and ran toward the black car.
- She entered inside with her heart pounding so fast.
- When the door shut, it was the time she heaved a sigh of relief.
- She wanted to talk to Mr. Floss about fetching her but her eyes grew wide when she suddenly realized that she wasn’t alone in the backseat.
- “Are you okay, Emi?” Warren was sitting beside her.
- His eyes flickered and his tone was friendly.
- Emily was taken aback again.
- She was surprised.
- She wanted to ask why Warren was with Mr. Floss fetching her but all the words were stuck in her throat.
- It was not really appropriate.
- Besides, Warren was the owner of the car and the driver was him as well.
- “Warren, I’m surprised you’re here.” Emily smiled awkwardly.
- “Hmmm…” Warren smirked cutely. “I just feel like eating outside because the chef’s meal was too ordinary. I wanted to taste something new.” Warren’s smile made his eyes narrow.
- It was pleasing to her eyes.
- Warren, if he was not disabled, maybe would also become a celebrity.
- The two brothers from the Adams really held the highest standard of beauty.
- Emily quickly understood him.
- If she was in his shoes, she would definitely feel the same.
- Who wanted to eat a house meal every day even if it was cooked with a chef?
- With her thoughts, Emily quickly felt sympathy for Warren.
- She smiled and looked at him.
- “So, what do you feel like eating?” She asked while her eyes filled with sincerity.
- “Hmmm… up to you! I can eat anything,” Warren answered with a warm smile.
- “Japanese?” Emily remembered her and her mom’s favorite cuisine.
- Warren smiled wide and nodded. “Let’s go, then!”
- Emily was quite happy because, for the longest time, she could eat a Japanese meal again.
- Along with her thoughts, her stomach grumbled noisily.
- Warren heard it and it quickly put her to shame but seeing Warren’s joy, she laughed too.
- “Thank you, Emi.” Suddenly Warren’s voice came in still mixed with light chuckles. “That’s the best laugh I ever had!” He added looking at her sincerely.
- Emily’s heart skipped a beat.
- She smiled at him.
- Then the car halted in full hinting that they already arrived at the restaurant.
- Warren chose an authentic Japanese Restaurant at the heart of the city.
- Emily then pushed his wheelchair.
- The reservation was made ahead and for two.
- Emily was considerate enough to settle Warren’s first.
- She even put a napkin on his lap.
- “A boat of sushi and sashimi, please.” Warren then ordered.
- Emily’s eyes widened.
- Sushi and sashimi were her favorite.
- She couldn’t believe that Warren loved them too!
- Shortly, different kinds of fresh sushi and sashimi arrived.
- The gigantic pink salmon and tuna were obviously of the highest quality.
- Emily’s eyes glowed looking at her favorites.
- “Food is to be eaten not for staring,” Seeing Emily’s happy expression, Warren felt satisfied.
- Quickly, Emily served sushi and sashimi on his plate.
- Then she got hers and ate cheerfully.
- The sashimi melted in her mouth!
- She never tasted them this good!
- Undoubtedly, rich people always have the best of everything!
- When they were in the middle of eating, two people came in and walked beside Warren.
- “Warren?” The woman who wore a white mini-dress and with blonde hair spoke.
- Her eyebrow twitched upward. “Warren Adam?” She added with disgust in her tone.
- Warren sat in his wheelchair calmly.
- He didn’t even spare a look at the woman.
- “Who is this? Your new girlfriend?” Then she looked at Emily along with a wicked laugh.
- Obviously, she was belittling them.
- Emily immediately saw the woman was up to no good.
- She looked at Warren.
- His eyes were reddish and he was gripping his chopsticks on the table tightly.
- It’s bad!
- “Who… who are you?” Emily inquired trying to figure out the identity of the sly woman.
- “Hmp! You are just wearing cheap clothes! How dare you ask me?” The woman said full of disgust. “You are just a trash. All you need to know is I was that useless man’s ex-girlfriend. Happy?” She snorted at Warren.
- “Britanny, stop!” Warren exclaimed.
- He looked at her with a wave of threat.
- The woman was taken aback but she quickly recovered.
- “Warren, what can you do then if I bully your woman, huh?” Britanny Hilton suddenly pulled Emily’s long hair. She spoke provoking Warren.
- Emily was shocked.
- Such a brat!
- “What now? Are you gonna stand and rescue her, huh?” She surely knew that Warren could not move his legs. “Warren, you are absolutely useless! I will never regret sleeping with another man and left you. Look at me now… I am happy and you?” She laughed mockingly before she continued. “A crippled.” She added sarcastically but just the next second,
- “Ahhh!!!” Britanny suddenly screamed painfully.
