Chapter 15 How Dare He

  • "Don't talk to my mom like that, you devil," Tahlia's eyes burned with anger as she hissed.
  • "How rude. You're just like your mom." Mabel didn't care that Tahlia was a child and slapped her.
  • "Mabel, please don't hit my daughter. I'll do as you say, okay?" Daphne's heart ached. Tahlia is just a kid.
  • "Kneel, then," Mabel demanded arrogantly. Wasn't she feeling triumphant this morning?
  • Does she think she's a big shot now just because of some useless man? She can dream on!
  • No matter how tough Maxwell is or how much of a good fighter he is, he's no match for Mr. Grant.
  • "Mommy, it's okay. It doesn't hurt. Daddy's coming to save us." Tahlia's determined gaze showed no fear of Mabel.
  • "Your dad's coming to save you?" Larrey laughed loudly.
  • "You brat. Your dad is terrified just hearing my name."
  • "You're the one who should be terrified. My dad's a great hero, and he fights bad people like you!" Tahlia yelled, her cheeks flushed.
  • Daddy's a soldier, and soldiers are heroes. Daddy will definitely come and save us.
  • "Come here, kid. Say your dad's a coward, and I'll give you candy." Larrey chuckled, squatting down.
  • "Your dad's a coward," Tahlia retorted.
  • With that, Larrey's expression changed, and he smirked.
  • "Mr. Grant, this kid doesn't know what she's saying. Don't hold it against her. I'll make it up to you. Tell me what you want me to do." Daphne's voice trembled with fear.
  • Tahlia had always brave, even as a child. While other kids would be scared of bugs and mice, she'd chase them away. So, Tahlia often got into fights with boys at kindergarten, making them cry every time.
  • "Indeed, it seems that she doesn't know much." Larrey's eyes showed a cruel glint as he pressed the burning end of his cigar against Tahlia's forehead.
  • "Ow!" Tahlia cried out in pain, tears streaming down her face.
  • Daphne's eyes filled with despair as she cried, "Tahlia."
  • She struggled desperately to go and save Tahlia.
  • Hugo and Mabel were startled by the scene.
  • They didn't expect Larrey to be so ruthless, but soon, they relaxed.
  • The kid had it coming. Calling Mr. Grant's Daddy a coward, what did she expect?
  • "Get them out of here and give them a beating."
  • "Alright, Mr. Grant."
  • Three bodyguards dragged Daphne and Tahlia to the courtyard and started beating them up.
  • ...
  • A black business van raced down the road, ignoring all traffic lights.
  • Inside the van, John, who was driving, stole a glance at Maxwell. The atmosphere inside the van was so tense you could cut it with a knife.
  • Maxwell's expression was calm, but his eyes were shining with a glint of light, emanating an icy chill and a chilling aura.
  • An ordinary person would probably be scared stiff by Maxwell's aura!
  • "Commander Grant, our troops will arrive soon. Besides, the coffins you ordered are all ready ... "
  • "Don't let anyone escape," Maxwell uttered, his eyes filled with a murderous intent.
  • In less than ten minutes, the black van arrived at the foot of a mountain.
  • Ahead, six tall and sturdy men stood in a row, blocking the way. These men were the guards of the Grant family mansion.
  • "Who are you? This is the Grant family mansion. Unauthorized personnel shall not enter," one of the men raised his hand and said.
  • Inside the van, John looked at Maxwell.
  • Maxwell's expression remained unchanged. "I'll handle this. You wait here for the arrival of the Third Corps."
  • John's heart trembled. Commander Grant is about to unleash hell. "Alright!"
  • As the six guards saw the van stationary up ahead, one of them moved forward.
  • At that moment, Maxwell stepped out of the van, his aura bursting forth!
  • The guard who approached felt as if he had been plunged into the icy depths of the far north, with a chill filling his body.
  • The guard hesitated for a moment but quickly regained his composure.
  • The Grant family's security team had been rigorously trained, matching the skills of regular special forces.
  • One of the guards eyed Maxwell warily, sensing his potential danger.
  • Maxwell wasted no time; in a flash, one of them collapsed, unaware of what had hit him.
  • The remaining five guards stood stunned, one still reporting to his colleagues below.
  • Suddenly, they heard the sound of a phone clattering to the ground, shocking them.
  • They were aware of their colleague's abilities; they were capable of taking down multiple men effortlessly.
  • Yet, Maxwell had swiftly incapacitated one without a trace.
  • "Let's tackle him together!" one exclaimed.
  • The other four reacted swiftly, charging at Maxwell.
  • An attempt to grab Maxwell from behind failed as he kicked his assailant, who didn't manage to evade, into a nearby pile of weeds.
  • The other four guards spread out and advanced toward Maxwell, poised to strike.
  • But Maxwell had vanished before their fists connected.
  • "Argh!"
  • A scream pierced the air as Maxwell suddenly reappeared outside their encirclement, his rapidly moving hands generating sonic booms. In no time, he had shattered their arms!
  • The four guards turned around and tried to counter, but Maxwell wasted no time.
  • With a perfect spinning kick, he sent all four flying.
  • Thud!
  • Thud!
  • Thud!
  • Thud!
  • They fell to the ground, unconscious.
  • Halfway up the mountain, Larrey smirked as news arrived of the breach.
  • Maxwell's here, it seems.
  • He's got guts, that's for sure.
  • Remaining calm, Larrey remarked, "Looks like Maxwell's got some moves. Since he loves a fight, I'll indulge him."
  • He picked up his phone and issued orders. "Tell everyone that there'll be a reward of 150,000 dollars for capturing Maxwell alive. Let's see what he's made of."
  • Hugo stepped forward, his flattering smile evident. "Mr. Grant, your authority is formidable."
  • Mabel, playing the role of a servant, massaged Larrey's shoulders, equally pleased. Mr. Grant's really impressive!
  • "I have nothing but wealth and manpower," Larrey boasted.
  • "Forget the fact that Maxwell didn't kneel when he got here; he even beat up my men! How dare he!" he barked haughtily.
