Chapter 12 Slap Them

  • "Maxwell?"
  • Hugo caught sight of Maxwell, and his eyes widened in disbelief.
  • "Hugo, is that Maxwell? The man who violated Daphne?"
  • Mabel's voice, barely above a whisper, carried across the room.
  • The mention of Maxwell's name caused a ripple of murmurs among the onlookers.
  • So, this man was the one who impregnated Daphne?
  • Daphne's demeanor turned somber as she cast a sharp glance at Mabel. It was evident that Mabel had intentionally dredged up the painful history.
  • Forget it! She could say whatever she wanted. Why shouldn't she? Daphne had endured the humiliation for years, and nothing could erase the past.
  • Maxwell's gaze shifted to Mabel, his eyes filled with a menacing intensity.
  • That look made Mabel, who had been smug moments ago, feel a chill run down her spine.
  • Feeling intimidated by Maxwell's piercing gaze, she swallowed hard.
  • Then, a realization struck her: why should she fear Maxwell when her boyfriend was the heir of a wealthy family?
  • "Daphne, I'm here to pick you up after work," Maxwell declared, his tone masking the rage simmering beneath the surface.
  • The Bensons are here to apologize because of Maxwell?
  • Impossible!
  • A crazy thought crossed Daphne's mind.
  • Tahlia had mentioned Maxwell's military background, but he had left the service. This man merely skilled in combat.
  • How could someone of his stature compel a tycoon to apologize to her?
  • I must be imagining things, Daphne thought, trying to make sense of the bizarre situation.
  • Shaking her head in disbelief, Daphne couldn't help but ask, "Maxwell, who sent you here?"
  • Maxwell's unexpected arrival left the Bensons in shock and fear.
  • One should not underestimate this man, as he commanded respect.
  • Shaun, without hesitation, knelt down and implored, "Ms. Lewis, please accept our apology and this check."
  • Following his lead, the rest of the Bensons also knelt.
  • The sight was nothing short of astonishing, leaving everyone present stunned.
  • The Bensons' inexplicable behavior left onlookers speechless, unable to comprehend their actions.
  • "Mr. Shaun, please rise. I accept your apology," Daphne reassured, assisting Shaun to his feet.
  • Shaun handed her the check, expressing his gratitude before departing. He said, "Ms. Lewis, I will take my leave now. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need anything."
  • Recognizing the potential danger, Shaun hurriedly left; any further provocation of Maxwell could lead to dire consequences for the Bensons.
  • The Bensons came and went swiftly, their departure marked by the departure of several cars.
  • "Besiege Maxwell!" Hugo ordered.
  • His command prompts over a dozen security guards from the Lewis group to encircle Maxwell.
  • "Hugo, what are you trying to do?"
  • Despite her animosity towards Maxwell, Daphne couldn't help but feel concerned seeing him surrounded by so many individuals.
  • "Daphne, this isn't about you. It's between the two of us. Just go," Hugo insisted, his determination evident.
  • Hugo clenched his jaw, resolved to teach a lesson to Maxwell.
  • "Hugo, Maxwell owes you an apology," Daphne interjected, adamant about resolving the conflict peacefully.
  • If the security guards were to attack all at once, Maxwell would surely meet his end.
  • "Daphne, do you actually care about me?" Maxwell's disbelief was evident.
  • "I couldn't care less. I simply don't want to witness your demise tarnishing my sight."
  • Daphne responded coldly, holding out her hand to halt the advancing security guards. "Do it! Apologize."
  • "Daphne, your concern for this scoundrel is quite telling. No wonder you're willing to bore his child in the past."
  • Mabel remarked, clicking her tongue and shaking her head. Daphne seemed enchanted by him, but it was nice; she had something to chuckle over.
  • Daphne remained silent, glaring fiercely at Mabel, wishing she could approach and deliver a few slaps.
  • "Take him down, now!" Hugo urged impatience as a dozen security guards closed in.
  • A dozen security guards quickly advanced.
  • "Thank you, Daphne."
  • Maxwell's gratitude reached her ears.
  • Suddenly, Daphne's vision blurred as Maxwell darted into the crowd.
  • "Urghhh! Urghhh! Urghhh!"
  • The waves of screams filled the air.
  • In just moments,
  • Maxwell swiftly overpowered all the security guards, tossing them aside one by one until they lay on the ground, wailing in pain.
  • Hugo's eyes widened in disbelief. Was he seeing things?
  • How was this even possible?
  • These were a dozen security guards who had launched the attack. Though not retired soldiers, they were robust men. Yet Maxwell had defeated them all in seconds.
  • Mabel was equally astonished by the rogue's exceptional combat skills.
  • Daphne was rendered speechless.
  • He took down those men single-handedly!
  • Did Maxwell honed such formidable skills during his time in the military?
  • Maxwell advanced towards Mabel directly, causing her to recoil. She stuttered, "What are you planning? I warn you, my boyfriend is the heir of Grants."
  • "Daphne, she seemed to have insulted us earlier. Should I give her a slap?" Maxwell asked with a cheerful smile.
  • Daphne felt hypnotized in that instant. She found Maxwell's expression and smile irresistibly infectious, and she nodded without hesitation. "Alright."
  • Smack!
  • Maxwell landed a slap on Mabel's face, leaving her ears ringing and her mind reeling. He encouraged, "Slap her as much as you like. If you end her, I'll handle the burial."
  • Daphne felt as if she were in a trance. A strong impulse surged through her, compelling her to move forward.
  • She acted swiftly, drawing shocked gazes from Hugo and Mabel as she delivered a slap to each of their faces.
  • Then, she declared firmly, "An eye for an eye. These two slaps are for my daughter's sake."
