• Cheyne gathered all maids and gardeners to question them about Eva. He was sure someone had backed her up to run away from the house secretly. Hence, no one admitted to seeing Eva leave the house. When Cheyne counted back all the working maids, he was missing someone.
• "Where's Joyce?" Cheyne questioned one of the female maids coldly. The maid was scared to face cold, so Cheyne interrogated her. Her co-worker Joyce asked her to clean up the remaining dinner plates despite her responsibility to look after Cody.
• "I'm sorry, sir. I don't know where she is," answered the maid fearfully.
