Chapter 67

• Moving toward Henry on the jungle gym, Jason and I traded a look, our interests implicit. Henry had been playing with different kids, his chuckling mixing with their energetic richness. As guardians, we were sensitive to the unpretentious changes in our youngster's attitude.
• "Good day, champ," Jason welcomed, his voice warm and encouraging. "Everything okay?"
• Henry went to us, his demeanor a blend of honesty and something more baffling. His eyes met mine, looking, maybe looking for consolation. "No doubt, Father," he answered, a little grin showing up. "Simply having a great time."
