• Nathan returned to the meeting with Mercedes. She was calmer and secretly grateful for his help, maintaining a beautiful smile throughout discussions with shareholders, which made Nathan drawn to her. He felt that she looked sweet when she bolstered that smile on her face. 
• Still, it made Penelope uncomfortable. Then again, she thought Mercedes had that smile on her face because she hadn't spoken with Griffin yet. No matter how she tried to convince herself that her secret was safe, she couldn't help feeling uneasy with Nathan and Mercedes' relationship. 
• That night at the club, she hadn't waited to see how things unfolded but from Mercedes Hickeys, she was certain that something had happened and thought it was with someone else. How could Nathan, who abhorred women, go to the extent of sharing a bed with Mercedes? It was impossible. With that thought in mind, she maintained that Mercedes was only trying to make her feel jealous. After business issues were addressed, Nathan stood up and held his hand out to Mercedes.
