Chapter 7 No One Else Is Worse

  • No one disliked her more than those who usually did, and now they looked down on her even more in their hearts.
  • If things continued to develop as they were, Lisa would eventually replace Winnie as the new Mrs. Foster. It was only a matter of time.
  • Winnie was truly disgusted with Jonathan now. He completely disregarded her dignity and humiliated her in front of so many people for no reason, all to protect his lover.
  • There was no scandal at all. Just a few days ago at a banquet, she accidentally fell and was helped up by a popular young actor. She smiled and thanked him, that was all. The media, in order to capitalize on the popularity of the two, exaggerated and fabricated rumors.
  • Although this matter was clarified within a few hours, she didn't expect Jonathan to still hold onto it.
  • Scandal? No one is worse than him!
  • But she couldn't curse him out loud, nor did she dare to. He had the thing she cared about under his control.
  • Taking a deep breath, Winnie suppressed the anger in her heart.
  • She squatted down and picked up the documents one by one, this time handing them to Lisa. She lazily raised her chin and said, "After you finish serving him, have him sign the documents. It's not cheap to maintain you."
  • Lisa's face turned pale again, almost bursting with humiliation, but she couldn't explode.
  • She could only squeeze out more tears and said, "Miss Thompson, please don't say such things about Jon. We truly love each other; it's not what you think."
  • Winnie completely ignored her, stood up straight, and walked into her own office.
  • Seeing her resolute figure, Jonathan's face turned as dark as it could be.
  • "Jon, what's wrong with you?" Lisa looked at Jonathan's icy face and asked cautiously.
  • Jonathan withdrew his gaze and let go of her, "I'll have Isaac take you to the hospital."
  • "I'm fine. It's lunchtime now, let's go eat. Your stomach has always been sensitive; you can't starve yourself anymore," Lisa said considerately.
  • Upon hearing this, Jonathan eased up a bit, but he really had no appetite or mood to eat. He said softly to her, "Let's go. I'll take you to the hospital first, and then we can eat."
  • "Okay."
  • Lisa gently linked her arm with Jonathan's and walked towards the elevator, but in her heart, she swore that one day, she would make Winnie leave Jonathan forever.
  • ...
  • Winnie was probably too tired. She went in and fell asleep on the couch for the whole afternoon.
  • She didn't eat the lunch that Susan packed for her.
  • As the sky outside gradually darkened, she finally woke up. She had a terrible sleep, filled with nightmares of her parents jumping off a building, suffocating her.
  • When she walked out of the office, her colleagues had all finished work.
  • She went to the garage and started the car. She didn't want to go home, so she aimlessly drove around the city. When she passed by the Empire Bar, she stopped.
  • The people in Jouston valued their leisure time and often gathered at bars after work.
  • Drinking was secondary; the main enjoyment was the brief moment of freedom after escaping from the pressures of life. With a glass of wine in hand, they could chat leisurely under the starry sky with their close friends.
  • Winnie used to be enthusiastic about this as well, but after the downfall of the Thompsons, she got married to Jonathan and had neither the time nor the freedom for it.
  • Now that she stepped in again, her state of mind was completely different.
  • She sat at the bar counter and ordered a drink. After exchanging a few words with the bartender, her phone rang.
  • She lowered her head and glanced at it. It was a text message from an unknown number.
  • With one hand supporting her head, she used the other hand to unlock the screen. In the next second, she froze.
  • In the photo, the elegant and noble Jonathan sat opposite the gentle and beautiful Lisa in a beautifully decorated restaurant, toasting each other. The picture was indescribably harmonious and beautiful.
  • I know who sent this to me. Didn't even have to guess. Seen this a million times.
  • Winnie sneered, threw her phone aside, and tilted her head back to take a big gulp of wine.
  • The alcohol was too strong, and she couldn't help but cough. Suddenly, someone lightly patted her back from behind. "Take it slow."
