Chapter 6 Too Weak

  • "If that's the case, why don't you let go and allow us to be together? Don't you have a heart?"
  • Look at this arrogance, this shamelessness. A typical wife would have been furious and torn the mistress apart on the spot.
  • But Winnie was more than a typical wife. She only cared about what her family could gain and nothing else.
  • These words had no effect on her whatsoever.
  • With a delicate hand, she elegantly brushed her bangs to the side of her ear and casually raised her eyebrows at Lisa. Her smile was captivating. "I like keeping things without using them. If you're unhappy, why don't you tell him to divorce me?"
  • You slept with him for five years, and you're still not his actual wife. If I didn't know better, I'd think you were a free prostitute. Tsk."
  • Her words were vulgar, causing Lisa's face to turn red and pale alternately. She raised her hand, ready to slap her.
  • Winnie was not one to be taken advantage of. Before Lisa could reach her, Winnie slapped her hard across the face.
  • With this slap, Lisa fell backward.
  • A strong arm appeared just in time, catching her waist and pulling her into an embrace.
  • "Jon." Lisa was shocked for a few seconds but quickly put on an expression of extreme grievance, looking at him pitifully.
  • "I'm sorry, I just wanted to congratulate Miss Thompson on winning the big project. I don't know how I upset her..."
  • Her pitiful appearance was truly pitiful, capable of arousing anyone's pity for her.
  • Jonathan gently touched her swollen face with his fingertips, his voice low and gentle. "Does it hurt?"
  • Winnie's smile froze. She had never seen Jonathan like this before. It was completely different from the cold, arrogant, and unapproachable Jonathan she usually saw.
  • So, he is capable of tenderness, just not towards me.
  • Winnie met Jonathan's angry gaze without any concern and smirked. "Sorry, my hand slipped."
  • Lisa seemed to be enduring the pain, but she said, "I'm fine, Jon. Don't blame Miss Thompson. I don't feel any pain at all."
  • Her magnanimity only made Winnie appear more narrow-minded and malicious.
  • When Jonathan looked at Winnie again, his face fell, a storm brewing in his eyes.
  • Winnie was extremely annoyed. Without waiting for him to explode, she directly handed the documents to him and said, "Please sign here. I'm really pressed for time and don't have the leisure to witness your affectionate behavior."
  • To her surprise, he threw the documents right in Winnie's face.
  • "Just because you got a new project, there's no need to show off. The losses the company has suffered from your continuous scandals far exceed these documents." His face remained indifferent, with a hint of disdain that couldn't be concealed.
  • The papers fell to the ground with a loud rustle, echoing through the quiet corridor.
  • Employees at the end of the corridor couldn't help but poke their heads out, witnessing this scene. They couldn't help but express their contempt towards Winnie. It was indeed rare to see someone in her position as the president's wife acting like this.
  • She was such a failure.
