Chapter 2 It's Enough That You're Back
- Winnie's face immediately turned pale.
- As she watched the kidnapper approaching her step by step, she couldn't control the trembling of her entire body.
- Just then, someone suddenly broke through the window from outside, and dozens of bodyguards dressed in black rushed in, swiftly subduing the kidnappers, rendering them unconscious.
- The middle-aged man leading the group stepped forward and respectfully said to Winnie, "Madam, you've been frightened. The master is waiting for you at the villa halfway up the mountain."
- Henry, a man in his fifties but still full of vitality, leaned on his cane, exuding the aura of someone in a position of power. However, when he saw Winnie, his solemn face showed concern.
- "Winnie, did they give you any trouble? The doctor will be here soon. You've been through a lot."
- Winnie's face remained expressionless as she bowed to him. "Just a few minor injuries, nothing serious."
- "No one can mention this incident to anyone. I will find out who did it," Henry said firmly.
- If news of the kidnapping of the president's wife of the Foster Group got out, it would undoubtedly have a huge impact on the company. Winnie nodded in understanding. "Okay."
- The doctor quickly finished the examination, and apart from some minor injuries, there was nothing serious. Henry breathed a sigh of relief.
- After tending to her wounds, Winnie fell into a deep sleep.
- She didn't wake up until it was dark outside.
- The sound of a car horn came from outside the window, and soon after, the bedroom door opened.
- The scent of wood filled the air, mixed with a faint hint of women's perfume.
- A flicker of obscure and indistinct emotion flashed in Winnie's eyes, but it only lasted for a second.
- Normally, at this time, she would turn on the light and say to him, "Mr. Foster, you're back."
- But today, she lay still, pretending to be asleep with her eyes tightly closed.
- After a moment, something sank behind her, and then, a large hand reached into her waist.
- Winnie frowned at the cold touch and discreetly moved forward, creating some distance between them.
- Unexpectedly, the person behind her paused for a moment and then forcefully pulled her back.
- This sudden movement caused pain in Winnie's wound, making her face turn pale.
- Suppressed anger and inexplicable resentment surged up from the depths of her heart.
- She raised her hand and pushed him away, not too gently.
- Jonathan obviously didn't expect her to react this way. His face quickly darkened, and he grabbed her shoulder, forcefully turning her around and half-pressing her beneath him.
- "What are you pretending for? Calling Grandpa to complain and asking him to urge me to come home and watch over you. And now that I'm here, you're playing this game of cat and mouse again."
- The word "again" was emphasized.
- It was evident that he was impatient with her past actions.
- It seemed that he could appear here because Henry had exerted pressure and naturally, he believed that this was her tactic once again.
- Winnie's fists tightened for a moment. The darkness concealed her wounds and also concealed her current desolation.
- She stared at the man with deep-set eyes for a few seconds before suddenly smiling. "No matter what game I'm playing, as long as you're back, that's fine," she said sarcastically.
- Jonathan sneered, "You dare to act so boldly. In that case, how do you plan to compensate for the losses in our cooperation?"
- Winnie's smile froze on her face. The interruption of their cooperation was already a trap deliberately planned by someone. As the one who was kidnapped, she was the biggest victim. Why should she bear the losses?
- Why did she feel like he seemed unaware of everything?
- But then she realized that she had called him for help, and he chose to ignore it.
- Perhaps he even wished for her to die early so that he could marry that woman in her stead.
- With this in mind, Winnie's voice turned cold, "Rest assured, I will provide the board of directors with a satisfactory response."
- "A response? You should think about how to compensate," Jonathan said, already unbuttoning Winnie's clothes.
