Chapter 11 Melanie, Someone is Looking for You

  • Adam hit the nail on the head. "Why does she want to divorce you?"
  • "Yeah. Why does Melanie want to divorce you? Something doesn't seem right. She should be holding onto you tightly." Thomas couldn't understand it. Then, he patted Benjamin's shoulder.
  • "Benjamin, no matter what, you are finally free from this woman. You can now pursue a relationship with Sophia. Come on. I'll raise a toast to you. I wish that you will return to your single life as soon as possible so that you can have your happiness with the one you truly love."
  • Thomas continued talking, utterly unaware of Benjamin's cold expression. However, Benjamin suddenly pushed his hand away and stood up.
  • "No matter the reason, if she wants a divorce, so be it. Who does she think she is?" Benjamin finished his sentence and left with heavy gloom hanging over him.
  • "Hey, where are you going? You asked us out and now you're leaving just like that?" Thomas asked in confusion.
  • After Benjamin walked out of the private room, Adam looked at Thomas and questioned, "Are you an idiot?"
  • Thomas' face darkened. "Adam, are you resorting to personal attacks now?"
  • "You call yourself a playboy and say you're experienced with women, but why can't you see things for what it truly is?" Adam asked in a low voice.
  • "What should I see? I don't understand. Tell me what you see," Thomas demanded.
  • Adam shook his head while showing a resigned expression. Then, he finished his drink, stood up, and merely said, "I see that you are indeed a fool. I'm leaving."
  • "Hey, what's wrong with you guys? Can't you explain things clearly instead of making me guess? Damn!"
  • ...
  • Three days passed, and the New Year was approaching in less than two months. The radio station seemed to be getting busier as they had to prepare materials in advance.
  • "Melanie, someone is looking for you. Do you want to meet them?" a young intern asked Melanie, who had just finished her broadcast.
  • "Someone is looking for me?"
  • "Yes. Two women."
  • Melanie paused for a moment and could vaguely guess who they might be. Then, she retracted her gaze and replied, "Tell them that I'm busy."
  • The intern nodded. "Okay. I'll let them know."
  • Jadyn's face turned unpleasant upon hearing the intern's relayed message. "What did she say? She doesn't have time? Who does she think she is? She's just a small radio host. How dare she make us wait for her?"
  • The intern, Zoey Brown, was startled and took a few steps back with her eyes widened in shock. These two women were so good-looking, but why did they have such bad temperaments?
  • Sophia looked at the passing gazes and tugged at Jadyn's sleeve while whispering, "Let's wait for her here. Don't make a scene. This is a radio station, and it's not good to cause a disturbance here."
  • Jadyn glanced at her helplessly. "You're so easygoing. If it weren't for me, you would have been bullied. Don't worry. Now that I'm around, I won't let Melanie have her way!"
  • Zoey quickly turned and ran into the elevator. Then, she headed toward Melanie's resting room.
  • "Melanie, I passed on the message for you, but they seem unfriendly. Should we call for security?"
  • Zoey said this because of her previous experiences. Although Melanie had never shown her face, as a radio host, her late-night broadcasts were loved by many and she had a considerable number of fans. Some of her fans could be overly zealous and behave in extreme ways.
  • Melanie shook her head as she looked at the script in her hand. "There's no need for that. Thank you, Zoey."
  • It wasn't until 9.00PM that Melanie emerged from the elevator, and she immediately spotted the two individuals in the rest area. She smirked slightly as they were indeed persistent.
  • Sophia seemed to have noticed her too. Her eyes flashed as she quietly tugged on Jadyn's sleeve. "Jadyn, she's here..."
  • Sure enough, as soon as Jadyn saw her, she stormed over, and her face was filled with anger as she pointed at Melanie. "Melanie, you made us wait for so long. Did you do it on purpose?"
  • Nonetheless, Melanie merely responded calmly, "Did I ask you to wait for me?" Her words implied that they were the ones who chose to wait.
  • "What did you say?!" Jadyn's anger flared to higher heights upon hearing this and she was about to shove Melanie, but Sophia stepped in and stopped her.
  • She had also sensed the underlying message in Melanie's words, so she looked at her softly and said, "Miss Davis, do you have some time? We'd like to talk to you. Is that possible?"
  • Melanie had no desire to see them nor interact with them, so she brushed past them indifferently and said, "No."
