Chapter 12 900AM at City Hall

  • "Melanie, stop right there!" Jadyn was infuriated by Melanie's attitude and reached out to grab her.
  • "Let go!" Melanie turned around while staring coldly at her. Her tone was icy and devoid of warmth.
  • Jadyn was left speechless and completely taken aback by Melanie's behavior.
  • Melanie had never treated her like this before, let alone given her such a cold look. So, she stood frozen in place.
  • Sophia, who realized the situation, approached gently and said meekly, "Miss Davis, please don't be so harsh on Jadyn. She hasn't done anything wrong." Although her tone was soft, her words were filled with accusation and blame.
  • Melanie coldly looked at her and queried, "She hasn't done anything wrong to me, but what about you, Miss Walker? Have you not wronged me?"
  • Sophia didn't expect Melanie to say that, and her expression momentarily stiffened. Then, she feigned her ignorance and asked with a glimmer in her eyes, "What do you mean by that, Miss Davis?"
  • Melanie had no interest in playing pretend with the two and didn't want to engage with them any longer. So, she simply stated, "Miss Walker, rest assured. Not everyone is interested in what others want. As for what I rejected, you can have it."
  • "Sophia, what is she saying?" Jadyn didn't quite understand, but after Sophia heard Melanie's words, her expression changed immediately. It was clear that Sophia understood the blatant sarcasm.
  • "Jadyn, let go," Melanie intoned coldly.
  • "I won't let go unless you handle the divorce procedures with my brother right now. Are you deliberately dragging things out?" Jadyn confronted Melanie aggressively.
  • Melanie initially didn't want to say anything to them, but then she suddenly spoke up when she saw something ahead. "You're overthinking things. I'm the one who wants a divorce. I'm ready to handle the procedures with Mr. Moore at any time. Why don't you ask him and find out when he has time to settle things as soon as possible so that you don't have to come looking for me again? Is that all right?"
  • Jadyn sneered. "What right do you have to initiate a divorce with my brother? Even if there's a divorce, it's because my brother doesn't want you!"
  • Just then...
  • "It seems I've spoiled you rotten."
  • A familiar voice stunned the two women. They turned around and saw Benjamin standing behind them with a dark expression as he looked at them.
  • "Ben, w-why are you here? Are you here to handle the divorce with her?"
  • Sophia furrowed slightly. She didn't believe that he had come to handle the divorce procedures with Melanie and asked softly, "Ben..."
  • Benjamin walked up to them and first cast a deep gaze at Melanie, who had a cold and indifferent expression as if she was unaffected by this entire farce, before he shifted his gaze to the other two women.
  • "Are you feeling better?"
  • Sophia couldn't help but feel that his words didn't sound like genuine concern for her but more like a reproach...
  • The thought flashed through her mind, and it made her heart tremble, but she managed to maintain a gentle look as she replied, "You don't need to worry. I'm fine."
  • Melanie looked at the three of them with furrowed brows. The shape she despised the most was a triangle, with its sharp edges and corners. It looked so sharp to her, and at this very moment, the three individuals standing in front of her formed that detested triangle.
  • "I'll be waiting for you at the entrance of the City Hall at 9.00AM sharp tomorrow," she said and walked away without looking back.
  • Benjamin stared expressionlessly at the two of them, seemingly as if he hadn't heard her words. However, Jadyn, who was undeterred, spoke up. "Ben, you have to be there on time tomorrow!"
  • However, Benjamin ignored Jadyn. Instead, he glanced at Sophia and said, "Henry will take you home."
  • Sophia bit her lip as she knew that he was trying to dismiss her. So, she nodded reluctantly.
  • Jadyn finally realized the severity of the situation and was about to make a run for it when she was grabbed by the back of her neck. "Ben, what are you doing?"
  • "What did you say to her?" he asked in a low and stern voice.
  • "Who?" She was playing dumb.
  • "Do you want me to send you abroad?"
  • Jadyn shrank her neck and gritted her teeth as she hissed, "What could I possibly say to her? I just wanted you two to get divorced quickly. I never liked her from the beginning. Don't you know that?"
  • He stared at her for a while. "Are you sure?"
  • She nodded vigorously. "I swear I didn't say anything to her!"
  • Benjamin looked at her intently for a moment before releasing her and turning away. Jadyn's back was drenched in a cold sweat, and she patted her chest while murmuring to herself with a frightened expression, "I absolutely can't let him know what I did on his birthday..."
