Chapter 10 Never Considered Divorce

  • Melanie knew exactly how to provoke the proud and indifferent Benjamin because of her understanding and knowledge of him.
  • As expected, when she finished speaking, he seemed to have awakened from a dream. A hint of inexplicable emotion and agitation flickered in his eyes, and he pushed her away as he instantly reverted to his cold and indifferent self.
  • However, her heart still ached for a moment. Wasn't he acting this way just to prove that she was wrong?
  • Although she was deliberately provoking him, she also added salt to her wounds by doing so.
  • Benjamin only gave her a deep look without saying a word. Then, he turned and left.
  • Melanie stood in place for a long time before tugging the corner of her lips. She had no regrets about her decision since it was wise to cut losses promptly. She thought she could accept that he didn't love her, and she believed that if she was sincere enough, she could move him.
  • Yet, it didn't matter how hard she tried; he didn't love her. He loved Sophia Walker. So, she didn't want what belonged to someone else. She blinked her sore eyes, turned around, and returned to her room.
  • Inside the car, Benjamin's expression remained gloomy. He glanced at the darkened window and his face grew even darker. He took out his phone and sent a message to the group. 'Let's go out for a drink.'
  • ...
  • Thomas pushed the door open and glanced at the man playing with a lighter on the couch. He raised an eyebrow and walked over to sit next to him after sizing him up.
  • "It's so late now. Why did you ask me out for a drink at such a time? Is it because of Sophia?"
  • At the mention of Sophia's name, Benjamin paused. He stopped playing with the lighter and looked at Thomas.
  • Thomas raised an eyebrow, and he teasingly stroked his chin. "Judging by your expression, is it not because of Sophia?"
  • Benjamin didn't speak. He just poured Thomas a glass of wine and whispered, "When am I ever associated with her?"
  • "Well, that's strange. If not because of Sophia, why then? I saw Jadyn's post. The woman you've been longing for got into an accident, and instead of going to the hospital to take care of her, you call us out for a drink. What's the meaning behind it?"
  • After Thomas finished speaking, the door to the private room was pushed open once again, and Adam entered. It seemed like he happened to overhear Thomas' words and glanced at Benjamin before speaking in a gentle tone, "It might not be because of that."
  • "Oh?"
  • Adam sat down and poured himself a glass of wine. He slowly asked, "Is it because of Melanie?"
  • When Benjamin heard this name, he paused. Then, he threw the lighter onto the coffee table and leaned back while pinching his nose bridge with his hand. His sexy thin lips tightened, and the tense line of his jaw showed his displeasure.
  • Thomas unexpectedly chuckled. "So, you're in a bad mood because of Melanie? Are you considering divorcing her but don't know how to bring it up?" After all, Melanie had some tricks up her sleeve. Otherwise, how could she have convinced the Moore Family to accept her? This was Thomas' opinion of this woman.
  • Adam simply shook his head but didn't say anything.
  • After a moment of contemplation, Benjamin suddenly asked in a deep voice, "Do you all think I would divorce her?"
  • Thomas raised an eyebrow. "Isn't that the case? After all, you didn't want to marry her in the first place, and now, Sophia is back. We all know it."
  • Adam spoke again in a gentle tone, "That's only you. I don't know anything."
  • Benjamin slowly opened his eyes, and his gaze was bottomless. "Do you believe me if I say I never considered divorce?"
  • Thomas immediately disagreed. "I don't believe it. You have always loved Sophia, and now that she's finally back by your side, would you just watch her be sad and upset?"
  • Adam looked at his friend with a slightly speechless expression.
  • "She was the one who brought up the divorce," Benjamin said suddenly.
  • Thomas was drinking at that moment, and upon hearing those words, he almost spat it right out. Then, he looked at Benjamin in astonishment. "What did you just say?"
  • Adam looked at Thomas as if he were looking at an idiot. "He said Melanie wants to divorce him."
  • "What? Melanie actually took the initiative to divorce you? Has the sun risen from the west?" Thomas was shocked.
  • Benjamin's gaze became even darker, and his thin lips tightened.
  • Thomas fell silent as he really hadn't expected this. After all, it was Melanie who had actively requested the marriage in the first place, and even a discerning person could see how she truly loved Benjamin. How could she easily bring up the topic of divorce?
