• “Why can’t he just leave me alone “.
• She fought with the air.She picked up the call and said
• “hello” in an irritated manner and the first thing Williams said was
• “Why aren’t you replying my text”
• That deep, raspy voice sent shivers down Emerald's spine. She lost her composure for a split second
• “I…I..you..” she stuttered. Emerald cramps suddenly increased and it made her wince
• “Are you okay?” Williams asked her over the phone
• “Yeah I’m fine “ she replied
• “Are you sure? You’re not hurt?” He sounded concerned
• “Nope, just a tiny belly ache and a little discomfort” Emerald responded ‘Tiny?, this isn’t tiny, this is a big belly ache ‘ Emerald’s subconscious spoke to her
• “Try to have some cinnamon tea, it helps”. Williams said to her.The way he said it made Emerald smile a little
• “You sound like an old man” emerald teased
• “We’ll I’m not young” He replied “ I’m heading to work now, I’ll call you later, bye “
• “By..”. He ended the call before Emerald could even reply “Jerk” she scoffed and went downstairs for breakfast

• “Mr Williams, time is not on our side, how about we start discussing the marriage preparation process”
• Pedro said with a smile Williams was silent
• “We can arrange a meeting for both families to meet . What do you say Mr Williams “ Pedro added
• “Mr James, I’ll arrange a meeting in my own pace. We shouldn’t rush things, don’t you think it’s unprofessional” Williams finally said.
• Pedro’s smile turned into a frown but he really couldn’t do anything as his hands were tied. He needed this man’s signature, so he can’t mess things up

• Emerald was sitting in the living room with her eyes glued to a magazine when she heard the doorbell ring. She hurried to the door to check who it was.
• “Hi ma’am” a short young man stood there with a bouquet of flowers.
• ‘A delivery man?, who ordered something?’ Emerald was about to call down Capri when the delivery guy spoke again
• “Are you miss Emerald”
• Emerald turned to him and answered “yes, why?”
• “these flowers are for you ma’am” the delivery guy said smiling
• ‘Flowers?, for me?’ She looked at the guy and looked at the flowers, then she asked
• “from who please”
• Not that she didn’t know who would send her these flowers, she just wanted the delivery guy to prove her suspicions right.
• “He didn’t say ma’am, it’s anonymous” the guy said
• “Okay thank you” Emerald said to him then collected the flowers.
• She went in and shut the doors behind her. She looked at the flowers and saw a tiny note attached to it, she picked it to read was written on it.
• “Hope you didn’t forget to drink the cinnamon tea”
• was boldly written on the note Emerald blushed.
• “ he sent me flowers ??” She said as she smiled and walked upstairs. She brought out her phone and opened Williams text
• ~ thank you for the flowers ~
• She texted him. He replied almost immediately
• ~glad you liked them~
• Emerald sniffed the flowers and fell on her bed, smiling widely like someone who just won a lottery. Her face all red
• She suddenly snapped out of it, she sat up and frowned. Looking at herself in the mirror, her face was so red and her ears were burning
• She gave herself a little slap on the cheek and said to herself
• “What are you smiling at? He sent you flowers so? Why are you blushing fit someone who’s trying to force you to marry him”
• Emerald let out a tired sigh and looked at the flowers she was holding.
• they were beautiful and it would be such a shame to throw them away. So Emerald decided to keep them

• Williams on the other side held his phone, smiling .He totally forgot he was in a meeting. He had had second thoughts about getting her the flowers but it seemed she liked it, he just wanted to do something that would make her feel better .
• The board members stared at him, there was whispers amongst them.
• “Is Mr Williams smiling at his phone?”
• “What is he smiling at”
• “Did he forget we’re in a meeting ?”
• “Does he have a girlfriend now?”
• The whispers went on….

• ”Aunty… when are you going to convince Williams to meet with me” Capri whined
• “Calm down dear, I have the perfect plan”
• Williams stepmom chuckled.
• “And???” Capri looked at her with expecting eyes”
• there’s a birthday party coming up, it’s his childhood friend’s”
• “So??, what has that got to do with me?” Capri said looking irritated.
• “Capri think for once, you’ll have to go to that party. Try to mingle with him in that party. I’ll set my photographers in every corner”
• “I don’t understand you aunty” Capri complained.
• “Imagine you wake up one morning and see your face all over the internet, with a heading ‘suspected girlfriend of the coe of M&U company’. What do you think would happen then?” Williams stepmom explained
• Capri looked at her and smiled deviously
• “You’re too smart aunty” she said
• Williams stepmom replied “of course. Your job is just to get close to him and I’ll do the rest. I’ll have to convince him to marry you instead after that, he cannot refuse it since the public has seen it. The last thing he would want is a scandal. He would avoid a scandal by all means for the sake of his company ”
• Capri hugged her and giggled
• ‘I’ll soon have you to myself, just you wait Williams. I’ll prove to you that my sister is not worth it, she wouldn’t appreciate you the way I would. She wouldn’t please you the way I would. If I don’t have you no one will. Why didn’t you choose me in the first place, I thought we shared something special after that night…’.
• Capri was lost in her thoughts
