Chapter 17

• The minute I step into Gio's Burger, I walk to the backroom to change into my work clothes. I need to call back Lana and Landon later but that means I'll have to tell them about Jake and I's kiss. I'm not ready to tell anyone my asshole roommate kissed me. And that supposed kiss is my first kiss and this part of me, this naive part of me wants to do it again. If Lana finds out she's definitely going to giggle loudly for a start and scream on top of her voice how she always knew the universe wants us to be together. She might even advise me to go ahead and seduce Jake to desperately want me. She can be predictable sometimes.
• I'm not expecting to see Nat in the diner today. Yesterday she helped me with my shift by working extra hours and today's her day off. I walk to the counter and to my surprise, there's a new girl here and Katie. Katie like always is at the cashier attending to the only customer around and the new girl is on her phone. I take my stand next to her.
• " Ashton, hey." Katie greets me. The new girl raises her head from her phone, surprised to see a new person.
