Chapter 7 Use Your Wretched Life to Atone For Zhou Tong's Death
- Even though everyone knew full and well that Zhou Tong accidentally crashed into a truck, Lu Licheng said that Su Yao did it. So, Su Yao did it.
- Even the evidence gathered by the police had pointed at Su Yao as the killer. The fact that Su Yao premeditated Zhou Tong's murder was made concrete.
- Su Yao was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
- "Mr. Ye, Mr. Lu is in a meeting. You can't go on..."
- *Bang!* Everyone in the conference room turned to look at the door.
- Lu Licheng slightly furrowed his brows as if he hated being interrupted.
- Ye Sichen stood furious by the door like a demon.
- "Mr. Lu," said the secretary with a troubled look on her face. "I just couldn't stop Mr. Ye..."
- Lu Licheng waved his hand and the little secretary hurriedly turned around and walked off like she'd been spared.
- Ye Sichen raised his hand to loosen his tie, then walked directly towards Lu Licheng. Lu Licheng suddenly raised his hand to catch Ye Sichen's arm, the moment his fist was about to land on Lu Licheng's face.
- "Lu Licheng, what kind of man are you?" Said Ye Sichen exasperated. "It's not like you don't know how much Su Yao likes. She's a woman who has liked you for at least ten years. How could you treat her like that?"
- A flash of disgust was plastered over Lu Licheng's face when he heard Su Yao's name. Then, brutally brushed Ye Sichen off. "She likes me, so did that mean she could shamelessly plot her way into bed with me? Did that mean she could cause Zhou Tong to die and disregard their sisterhood?"
- "What happened to Zhou Tong was an accident. Nobody could have imagined that she would get into a car accident..."
- "Shut up!" Roared Lu Licheng. "Don't mention Zhou Tong in front of me! Didn't you like Su Yao for many years? What? You can't bear to see her suffer? I wouldn't mind if you accompanied her in prison."
- "You piece of sh*t! Su Yao's truly blind to fall for an a**hole like you!"
- Lu Licheng cast side glances at him. "I reckon that you're the blind one. How could you fall for a woman with no sense of shame?"
- Ye Sichen was seriously angry. He took a few deep breaths to force the anger in his heart to simmer down. "A prison isn't a place for humans. Quickly get Su Yao out. Otherwise, don't blame me for disregarding our brotherhood of over ten years."
- Lu Lichen turned his head away and didn't look back at it. His eyes were completely cold. "Zhou Tong died because of Su Yao. I will definitely make her pay the price for that. If you insist on helping her, then there's no brotherhood between us."
- Ye Sichen wanted nothing more than to go up to the stubborn a** and strangle him to death. "Say, Lu Licheng... Why are you so sure that Su Yao did it? I believe that Su Yao isn't that kind of person. There must be something else behind it..."
- "Security recorded the whole thing," Lu Licheng coldly interrupted him. "Su Yao did it."
- Ye Sichen was dumbfounded. He stood blankly on the spot, at a loss for words.
- ............
- "173! Someone's here to see you."
- Su Yao walked blankly towards the guard. Who would come to see her?
- The first person to come to mind was her mother. At least, when she was beaten up in the dark of the night, her mother was the one she who she thought about.
- Mama... would really come to see her?
- Su Yao didn't dare think that. After all, half a year had passed and no one from the Su family came to visit.
- She wasn't a felon but she was "taken care of" by being chained up. The chains clamoured as she walked down the quiet corridor.
- "Su Yao!"
- Abby's eyes widened in disbelief that that the woman in front of her was actually Su Yao.
- She was outrageously skinny. The wide prison uniform looked like a robe on her. Her complexion was deathly white and she was covered in purple bruises, one of which was obviously positioned by her mouth.
- Only over half a year had passed. How did Su Yao turn out like this?
- When Su Yao saw Abby, a hint of surprise flashed across her sunken eyes, as she couldn't hide the disappointment.
- The Su family couldn't wait to sever all ties with her, so why would they come to see her?
- She forced down the disappointment in her heart and smiled weakly at Abby. "Abby, why are you here?"
- "Su Yao..." Seeing her like that, Abby didn't know what to say. She sighed, then pulled out a small usb from her bag. "This is the security footage from that night. I made a copy and especially came to give it to you."
- "This is... the security footage from that night?"
- Abby nodded.
- She never imagined that Abby would have remembered the favour she asked of her back then. Su Yao looked at Abby with gratitude and asked, "Can you tell what happened that night from the footage?"
- Abby looked at her with hesitation to speak, the sighed softly. "The security cameras caught what happened that night."
- "Really?" Su Yao was instantly surprised. "Then, does that mean it can prove my innocence?"
- "Su Yao," Abby paused for a moment. "The footage clearly showed what happened that night. You have Mr. Lu a glass of wine. He became dizzy after he drank it, then... you carried Mr. Lu into the room," she said with a troubled look on her face.
- Su Yao looked at Abby with shock on her face. She couldn't stop herself from trembling. She didn't feel this much anguish when she was shoved into the toilet bowl.
- "What are you saying... How could that be? You must have mistaken. That's impossible! I didn't do it!"
- Abby looked her right in the eyes. "Su Yao, the security footage recorded it all clear as day. I can't have made a mistake," she said, as each and every word hit her hard.
