Chapter 3 Why Did Nobody Believe Her?
- "Zhangzhong, if you have something to say, take your time. You've cut the child's head..." Su Yao's mother stood anxiously to one side to one side. She wanted to go over and help, but she was terrified of Su Zhangzhong's rage and didn't dare go forward."
- "Shut up!" Just as she expected, Su Zhangzhong immediately direct his attacks on her. "Caring mothers raise useless children. If you didn't usually spoil her, then how did she turn out to be so out of control and do something so shameless?"
- "I didn't!" Yelled Su Yao. The tears that she forced herself to hold back for a long time instantly came pouring out. "I didn't do it. I drank too much last night and had no idea what happened. I didn't know how Lu Licheng and I ended up sleeping together. Believe me, I really didn't do it!"
- "If it wasn't you, then who was it? I told you that Lu Licheng's too conniving so you should keep your distance from him, but you just didn't listen! Of all the people to fall for, it had to be him! Anyone with a little prestige in Linyi knows that you like Lu Licheng. Now that this has happened, how are people going to believe that you didn't do it? Don't tell me that someone just put you in Lu Licheng's bed!"
- "What's so wrong about liking someone? Just because I like him, does that mean I definitely did something like this? You lot haven't even asked if I did it or not, and are just pointing fingers at me and calling me shameless! Why don't you guys even believe me?" Su Yao looked at her parents in front of her with heartache and the desperate, fearful tears pouring from her eyes.
- She wasn't afraid of being spat on or cursed at by a million people; she wasn't afraid of losing everything she had; she wasn't even afraid of Lu Licheng getting revenge on her. The thing she was most afraid of was being distrusted by the people she most trusted.
- "There's no use in us believing you..." Su Zhangzhong seemed to have instantly aged by ten years, as he sat helplessly on the sofa. "Zhou Tong's dead now. Lu Licheng won't ever forgive the Su family."
- Su Yao's mind suddenly went blank. Her mouth gaped, as she couldn't even hear what she said. "What did you say? Zhou Tong's... dead?"
- Mrs. Su let out a helpless sigh. "Zhou Tong got critically injured in a car accident and passed away. Half an hour ago, Lu Licheng cut off Su Corp's supplies, and they also want us to pay back their debt of thirty million by tomorrow afternoon," she said.
- "You know about our family situation. Your older brother lost his investment recently and the Su family business were already facing trouble. Then, the Lu family was willing to supply to us on credit, which helped us turn things around right now with much difficulty. How could we possibly bring out thirty million? Wouldn't he just be taking our life?"
- Tears fell from Mrs. Su's eyes as she said this.
- Su Yao didn't catch what Mrs. Su said afterwards, as her mind was filled with echoes of what was just said.
- Zhou Tong's dead.
- How could someone who was alive and well just earlier, go and die just like that?
- Although she was really jealous of Zhou Tong for possessing all of Lu Licheng's love, they had been best friends ever since they were little. Zhou Tong was like a sister to her. How could a person, who was so full of life, suddenly be... gone?!
- Tears suddenly fell.
- She knew just how important Zhou Tong was to Lu Licheng. With Zhou Tong dead, wouldn't Lu Licheng be inconsolable?
- He must hate her so much!
- Su Yao, you'd better pray that nothing happens to Zhou Tong. Otherwise, I'll never forgive you.
- Su Yao thought about what Lu Licheng said before he left and shuddered with fear.
- No! Lu Licheng didn't have to love her, but he absolutely couldn't hate her!
- She wasn't behind this. There were many people that night, so someone must know the truth. There was also the security cameras. She had to clear her name!
- Su Yao spun around and stumbled as she ran to the Lu family residence.
- The rain got heavier. It was just drizzling earlier, but at the blink of an eye, it was pouring down with rain.
- Regardless, Su Yao ran forward with the pitter patter of large raindrops hitting her body. She didn't care about any of it. Her mind was set on running towards the Lu family residence.
- She arrived at the Lu family home half an hour later.
- "Lu Licheng, open the door! I really wasn't behind this. Hear me out..." The thick, heavy, iron doors towered over her and blocked her path.
- In the thick of the misty rain, the hazy mansion was silent. Su Yao hurriedly smacked the iron door but didn't get a reply.
- "I'm devastated that Zhou Tong passed away. She was like a sister to me. I'm more heartbroken than anyone, but what do I need to say for you all to believe me? I really didn't do it. I really wasn't behind it..."
- She cried uncontrollably, gasping for breath. She felt sorry for herself and she mourned for the passing of her good sister.
- Zhou Tong's dead. She died with hate in her heart for her!
- No matter how she explained, Zhou Tong wouldn't be able to hear it. No matter what the truth was, Zhou Tong wouldn't know!
- Su Yao clawed at the iron door. Her nails dug hard into her flesh. She was so heartbroken that she couldn't barely stand upright.
- Why wasn't anyone willing to believe her?!
- On the second floor of the mansion, Lu Licheng stood in front of the window and looked down onto Su Yao with a sullen gaze.
- She was completely drenched and her messy hair was stuck to her face. She stood in the rain with just one show on and no idea when she lost the other. Her trousers were covered in mud, and she looked incredibly run-down.
- Su Yao, compared to the suffering that you put Zhou Tong through, what's this bit of agony? I'm going to make the rest of your life a living hell to atone for Zhou Tong!
- "Abby, go down and tell her that if she wants to explain face-to-face, then she has to prove her sincerity!"
