• " Hey," Sara greeted as soon as she sighted Mel.
• " Hey," Mel answered. Kelly was in the kitchen too, and Charles, a waiter who had taken a liking to Melody since she started working in the restaurant. He was not in when the incident happened and had looked pissed the moment Kelly explained what happened in his absence. He looked Melody over thoroughly the minute he saw her, searching for injuries. He heaved a sigh of relief when he saw none.
• " Should I accompany you home? " He asked nervously.
