Chapter 8
- Cathy wore a blue off-shoulder gown that stopped at midthigh with black heels. Her hair was flowing down her shoulders and she held a black purse that had her personal belongings inside it. She wore them with a complete set of gold jewelry.
- We got there an hour late. I’m amazed. I didn’t know it was a mansion.
- The neighborhood is very prestigious. I looked at the obnoxious mansion, the lawn is perfectly lawned. I can see the large curtains covering the glass windows. Cathy looks at me with eyes pleading to go back home but we’re here already, let’s face it. We take a deep breath and step inside.
- When we walked inside the house, it's the smell that hit me first. The place reeks of body odor, alcohol and drugs. The music is deafening. I get that college is stressful and people are loosening up but the smell of cigarettes and alcohol is a lot stronger than I thought.
- Even in this big mansion, the amount of people here feels like we're pushing past packed sardines. It smells like it too! The smell wants to make me puke.
- We squeeze through the dance floor/ sitting room. We passed by some people who were smoking weed in the corner. I covered my nose to block the smell a bit. The smell is harsh, I might start coughing and sneezing if I stay there for too long.
- Ryan told us to meet him in the kitchen. We got into the kitchen successfully, there were less people here. I'm not really a party person so I'll probably be here till it's time to go home. Cathy tells me she's going to talk to her friend that was at the other side of the counter.
- Although I'll prefer to be on my bed watching one of my favorite action movie series, Into the Badlands and eating the best flavor of ice cream which is obviously strawberry and hot popcorn.
- Ryan would come and pull me out of my hostel even if I was in my pajamas.
- Coloured cups are littering everywhere on the kitchen counter. There are varieties of alcoholic drinks on the big counter. I have seen alcohol but not this much alcohol. There are some brands I haven't seen before. My house has a wine bar, my parents prefer wine to alcohol.
- These people will get a massive hangover by tomorrow morning.
- I'm not even joking.
- "What can I get you?" Ryan asks.
- "Is there coke?"
- "Gabby, this is a college party! Of course there's no coke. I'll get you a beer."
- "Okay, I'll manage"
- I walk to the kitchen door to take a look around and observe the house. The house is beautiful.
- "Here's your beer, you need to loosen up a bit." He hands it to me with a smile on his face. The kitchen is less noisy so I can hear him.
- "You look gorgeous Gabs, but this is not what we bought at the mall the other day" he says smirking. He was still admiring my clothes. I'm wearing a light pink big Polo and black cargo pants with combat boots. I curled my hair and let it flow down my shoulders.
- We bought a black short sleeveless gown. I can't wear that, it's way too open for me. I would be flopping around like a fish if I had worn it.
- "Should I give you a tour of my house?"
- "Okay.. Let's go. Since we're not doing anything here" I hook my arm on his and I wave to Cathy telling her I would be back.
- We walk upstairs, the first room we enter is the study room. The room is big, large wooden shelves are on the wall. I love reading so I checked the shelves, there were varieties of books. Varying from medical books, books on politics, economy and even novels.
- “My mum loves reading so my dad filled the study with different looks. And the way you're staring tells me you also love reading,” He says smiling.
- “Ohh.. Yeah, I do,” I admit.
- “Come on. Let me show you other rooms,” He says as he holds my hand and pulls me away.
- We walk down the hallway and he shows me different rooms. They also have a game room and cinema room. All the bedrooms are locked though he doesn’t want anything to happen. The last room in the hallway is his. His room is painted light blue, just like the color of his hair. There is a flat screen television on the wall, a big bed with white beddings and a sofa in front of the TV stand. He also had a wooden table and chair at the corner of the room. There’s a door at the other end of the room, that should be a walk-in closet and the toilet maybe.
- “Wow… Your room is nice. Did you paint your hair because of the color of your room?” I look at him and laugh a little. He cleans up well.
- “Why would I do that? It’s just a coincidence that my room and I share the same color. It means we like each other.” He laughs showing his pearly white teeth.
- “Make way for the guy that loves his room enough to marry it.”
- “How will I marry an inanimate when I have you.” We both laugh.
- He’s still holding my hand as we go downstairs. I see Cole and Sage whispering as we pass the bathroom area. They look like they're angry at each other.
- “Ryan, can we go closer and listen to them? I want to hear what they’re saying”
- “Okay.. They look like they’re arguing though.”
- We walked closer to them and I could hear them.
- “Cole, answer me. You can’t stop hiding it.” Sage says frustrated.
- “What did I do? Are you accusing me wrongly?” Cole says innocently.
- What the hell are they talking about?! I wonder what their problem is.
- I think Cole noticed we were there so I pulled Ryan so we would be hidden behind the pillar before he turned to check.
- “Whatever Sage, I’m off. Please don’t spoil my night.” he says as he storms away.
- “I really think those people are weird, not just today but I think they’re into shady business. They’re always in the dark, whispering or doing one weird thing or another. I don’t like it so I try not to associate with them," he comments.
- This is new. I think their friend group is really toxic.
