Chapter 5 The Identical Jade Pendant
- Ye Manxi retrieved her notebook and leaned on the table, contemplating how to treat Huo Miao.
- Unaware of Huo Miao's presence in this place, Jiang Jiye felt a pang of sadness upon seeing his living conditions.
- "Huo Tianqi has gone too far. Mr. Huo, the old man was driven to his death by Huo Tianqi!"
- Huo Miao raised his hand to silence Jiang Jiye and gestured for him to speak softly. "Don't come here often in the future. I will contact you."
- "Okay, Mr. Huo. By the way, I have already contacted Dong Tiansheng."
- "Mm." Huo Miao nodded. "I know. You can go now."
- Jiang Jiye walked towards the door, and Huo Miao spoke again. "Jiang Jiye."
- "I'm here, Mr. Huo."
- "On the day of my grandfather's funeral, I must accompany him on his final journey."
- "Yes, Mr. Huo. I will make the arrangements."
- Jiang Jiye left, and Ye Manxi spent the entire night writing while leaning on the table, while Huo Miao sat on the chair throughout the night.
- The notebook was filled with notes, and Ye Manxi rubbed her tired eyes.
- Huo Miao had sudden blindness, a condition similar to what was recorded in his grandfather's medical book. Ye Manxi was confident in her ability to cure Huo Miao.
- Huo Miao also didn't sleep all night. She walked over and wanted to help Huo Miao lie down on the bed for a while. Huo Miao said, "Is the sun shining brightly today?"
- Ye Manxi looked at the sunlight streaming in through the window and gently squeezed Huo Miao's hand.
- Huo Miao said, "Take me to the garden to bask in the sun!"
- Ye Manxi supported Huo Miao and walked out of the room.
- As Ye Lühe sneaked in from outside, she coincidentally saw Ye Manxi accompanying Huo Miao in the sun.
- Huo Miao's face under the sunlight remained radiant, just as before. Ye Lühe hid behind a tree, staring in a daze.
- She bit her lip and muttered to herself, "I'm truly useless. Why do I still care about someone like him? He's like a beggar."
- Despite her words, she couldn't resist sneaking into Huo Miao's room.
- Covering her nose with a silk handkerchief, she walked around the room, as if consoling herself. "Fortunately, I didn't marry. How can anyone live in a place like this?"
- Just as she was about to turn around and leave, she suddenly noticed a brown-covered notebook neatly placed under the pillow on the well-made bed.
- Ye Lühe recognized it as Ye Manxi's belonging, treasured and rarely left behind.
- What good thing could be hidden under the pillow?
- Ye Lvhe walked over and pulled out the notebook, flipping through it with increasing excitement.
- It contained records on how to treat Huo Miao. Ye Lvhe knew that Ye Manxi's grandparents and mother were renowned Chinese doctors, and Ye Manxi herself was highly skilled.
- Ye Lvhe had witnessed it with her own eyes. One day, their neighbor, Aunt He, suddenly fell ill, foaming at the mouth and convulsing. Ye Manxi used two silver needles to save her from danger.
- Afterwards, Ye Manxi frequently performed acupuncture on Aunt He, and within a month, she miraculously recovered and never fell ill again.
- Ye Lvhe's heart raced with excitement. Did this mean there was still hope for Huo Miao?
- Suddenly, she heard the sound of a cane hitting the ground at the door. Ye Lvhe turned around and saw Huo Miao entering the room.
- Since Huo Miao became blind, Ye Lvhe hadn't seen him. She had only heard that he was kicked out of the Huo family by Huo Tianqi and assumed he had become a destitute beggar.
- However, even in his blindness, he carried himself with dignity. With a blind cane in hand, he gracefully walked into the room.
- Ye Lvhe was captivated by his presence and forgot to hide.
- Huo Miao walked past Ye Lvhe and suddenly sensed someone's presence. He asked, "Lvhe?"
- Ye Lvhe was startled, thinking she had been discovered. Huo Miao instinctively reached out and grabbed Ye Lvhe's hand.
- "Weren't you going out to find medicinal herbs? Haven't you left yet?"
- Only then did Ye Lvhe realize that Ye Manxi, using her name, had married Huo Miao. Now Huo Miao believed she was Ye Manxi.
- Ye Lvhe quickly held onto Huo Miao's hand as well and looked up at him, her mind racing.
- If Huo Miao could cure himself, she believed he could regain everything he had lost, and she could be by his side once again!
- Ye Lvhe loved Huo Miao, otherwise she wouldn't have pretended to be mute in front of him for half a year.
- Huo Miao touched Ye Lvhe's cheek, and his hand brushed against the jade pendant hanging from her necklace. Ye Lvhe took the opportunity to pull the jade pendant out from her collar.
- Huo Miao gently caressed the smooth jade and murmured, "I didn't notice you wearing this jade yesterday. I thought you had taken it off. If it wasn't for this jade, I almost didn't recognize you."
- Huo Miao also had a jade pendant identical to the one around Ye Lühe's neck. When Ye Lühe snatched it from Ye Manxi's neck, she only felt that the jade was translucent and beautiful, obviously a valuable item. Later, after seeing Huo Miao, she realized that it was a gift from Huo Miao when they were young.
- Thanks to this jade pendant, Huo Miao recognized Ye Lühe as the mute girl he had encountered in the medical clinic years ago.
- Ye Lühe leaned into Huo Miao's arms for a while before reluctantly getting up.
- She was afraid that if Ye Manxi suddenly returned and saw them, she still had important matters to attend to.
- She hurriedly ran out, and Huo Miao assumed she was going to the pharmacy to purchase medicinal materials.
- As Ye Lühe descended the stairs, she bumped into Mei Jie, who was spitting out watermelon seeds everywhere. Mei Jie's eyes widened upon seeing Ye Lühe.
- She had seen Ye Lühe in the Huo family before, but the person who married into the family that day was not the same person she had seen previously.
- But it made sense. That Ye Lühe appeared to be a pampered young lady. It was impossible for her to marry a blind man. It seemed that someone had secretly been replaced.
- Mei Jie wasn't foolish. With a little thought, she immediately understood what was happening.
- "Mei Jie, you're an intelligent person. I don't need to say much, do I?"
- Mei Jie squinted at Ye Lühe, and it was Ye Lühe who spoke first.
- Mei Jie was shocked. Ye Lühe had been mute before, but now she was speaking?
- However, when Mei Jie saw Ye Lühe take out a thick stack of red bills from her wallet, her eyes widened and she quickly reached out to take them.
- Money has a way of influencing people. Mei Jie had witnessed all the ups and downs in this family. Asking too many questions wouldn't be beneficial. Once the money was in her hands, she could naturally keep quiet.
- "Don't worry, Miss Ye. From today onwards, if anyone asks, you are legally married to Mr. Huo."
