Chapter 75

  • Heading to him was scary, and June couldn’t understand why. It had been two months since he left to be with Mrs. Green. The first month was okay; they spoke daily, and he said she was improving. But a week into the next month, June didn’t know how it happened. Days went by, and they didn’t speak. They barely sent texts or called each other. They had grown so apart that it scared her.
  • Fiona helped her drown her worries in school and exams. Having a new thesis supervisor just at the last minute was not as awful as she had imagined; she did everything she could to make Tae proud. She replayed his voice in her head every day, making sure she reminded herself what he would have wanted or would be saying.
  • But here she was, a few hours away from Mrs. Green's house, more anxious than excited. He had sent the address out of the blue two days ago, and June couldn’t bring herself to ask what was happening.
