Chapter 67

  • June had hated hospitals for as long as she could remember. Her mom would leave her to go into the theaters, and she would wander to every corner of the hospital and see things a child her age shouldn’t have seen. She hated everything, from the smell to how it looked and seemed so clean yet felt so dirty. She couldn’t help but hate those awful scrubs they wore. Her mom would come home tired, and her scrubs made her look even worse.
  • How had she managed to stay with Tae throughout those months in the hospital? Her hatred for the place was the last thing she thought of; maybe that was how she survived it. All she thought of was Tae getting well, so perhaps it got her through it.
  • “June,” she heard her voice in an echo.
