Chapter 6 Missed Encounter

  • Four months later~
  • "Mia!" Daniella yelled at the bottom of the stairs. She had gotten her apartment back from Victor and kicked the bastard out.
  • It had been four months, and during those four months, it had been nothing but sweet hell.
  • She had gone for checkups quite frequently. Her baby was a boy. A healthy baby boy.
  • Four months along, and she was already showing. Two months ago, she had to stop her job when she fainted at work.
  • She was so terrified, she thought she was going to have a miscarriage. Luckily, the doctor only told her it was due to stress, so she was asked to stop working.
  • During these months, a lot of things had occurred, one, being the fact that her two best friends had broken up.
  • This was a huge shock to Daniella. Never in her wildest dreams did she ever think they could break up, but they did.
  • It was four months back, after her talk with Chris, she had rushed back to the house, only to find Mia seated on the couch, bawling her eyes out.
  • From what Mia had told her, Caden wanted a break, and space to think, and everyone knows that's an excuse for a breakup.
  • We shouldn't call it an excuse in Mia's case. Daniella was sure it was a breakup! After that argument with Mia, Caden did not return. And it's been four full months!
  • Even if he argued with Mia, it shouldn't affect her, should it?
  • "Mia!" Daniella screamed louder at the stairs, "Would you get down here this instant and help me?!"
  • "What?" Mia appeared at the top of the stairs. "You keep disturbing me."
  • "Why wouldn't I?" Daniella snorted angrily. "If I don't drag you out, who knows what might happen to you."
  • "What do you want me for?" Mia asked with an eye roll.
  • "Don't roll your eyes at me," Daniella glared harder. "These things are too heavy for me, and I need to deliver them to a client." She said pointing to some heavy canvas and boxes filled with files.
  • When Daniella's parents were alive, they dealt in real estate and management. She was the only child, so, she had to continue the business.
  • "Come on Mia, help me load these things into the car." Daniella dragged a box of files out.
  • "The doctor said you shouldn't be working or lifting heavy things." Mia stood at the bottom of the stairs, staring at the scattered files and boxes. "Did you forget what happened last time?"
  • "Last time was me not being careful enough." Daniella dismissed. "This time it's only paper I am moving."
  • "Paper?" She heard her friend snort. "Those things look heavy."
  • "That's why I called you to assist me." Daniella wasn't giving in. This was important to her.
  • For two months she has been cooped up in this house doing nothing but eating and sleeping. And for someone always busy, this was a huge change to take.
  • They loaded the files into the car, Daniella, going to the driver's seat. " Come in, I still need your help in unloading the files."
  • Daniella sighed, as Mia ignored her to sit. She couldn't blame her.
  • Mia had been like this since the break-up. Her cheery friend was gone and all that was left of her was this gloomy witch of a friend.
  • "Where are we heading to?" Daniella heard her friend ask, causing her to turn her head.
  • "I told you, I need to deliver these files to a client."
  • "Why? And where?"
  • Daniella looked at her friend like she was stupid. "He wants to build a house on the estate, and as the boss, it's my job to provide a list of suitable structures that fit the location of his land."
  • "I thought these things were handled by your managers and assistants or whatever you call them." Mia dismissed with an eye roll.
  • "They are handled by them, I just wanted to have my hands on something," Daniella said, choosing to concentrate on driving.
  • The car drove to a stop, in front of them, a cafe shop which was filled with customers and pedestrians moving around.
  • "A cafe?" Daniella heard the disbelief in Mia's voice. "You brought me to a cafe looking like this?" She pointed to herself.
  • "What's wrong with how you look?" Daniella took a good look at her friend.
  • Her best friend wore a pink crop top hoodie on, finishing it off with a pair of jeans.
  • "I look like sh*t Ella!" Mia refuted with a frown. "You never said it was this far either!"
  • "Hey, don't yell at me!" Daniella replied with anger. "You look fine, it's all in your head, and we are only forty kilometers from home."
  • "That's almost like taking a long time to get home by leg."
  • Making a face, Daniella asked, "Why would you want to walk home?"
  • "Do I look like I have my wallet on me?" Mia gave her a look. "Ever since you got pregnant you've been stupid I noticed."
  • "Don't insult me,Mia, if you don't want to come, you can just stay in the car, I'm not forcing you. I only wanted you out of the house 'cause you looked depressed." Daniella slammed the car's door shut. "I was only being a friend."
  • Without waiting to hear Mia's reply, Daniella strode into the cafe, searching for her client. She had left the design structures in the car, she hoped the client wouldn't mind seeing the ones on her phone.
  • She did want to get anywhere close to Mia at the moment. She was too mad, and pregnant to be facing her now.
  • "Mr Joshua?" She called, stopping at a table with a man in a suit.
  • "Yes?" The man answered, "Are you Miss Daniella Morgan?"
  • "Yes, that would be me." Daniella extended her hand for a shake, nice to meet you and sorry for keeping you waiting."
  • "No problem." Joshua shook hands with her. "Take a seat, I ordered coffee for both of us if you don't mind."
  • "Oh, thanks, but I can't take caffeine at the moment." Daniella politely declined, "but I could take a cup of hot chocolate."
  • "No worries." Joshua waved it off, not bothering to ask why.
  • Daniella looked around the busy cafe, as Joshua ordered a new cup of chocolate for her.
  • Surprisingly on a Monday morning, this cafe was filled to the brim with customers, and it made her wonder how Joshua could have saved a table. He might have booked it, who knows?
  • "Here you go." A waitress dropped the steaming cup of choco in front of her. "Thanks." Daniella said, bringing the cup to her lips, and lightly blowing on it.
  • "So," Mr Joshua started, "can I see the designs?"
  • "Sure." Daniella held up her phone. "I didn't have the power to carry the designs out but it was saved on my phone, hope you don't mind. I assure you, you can make adjustments to your satisfaction."
  • "No problem." Mr Joshua collected the phone from her, scrolling through the designs. "They were designed beautifully, were these your ideas?"
  • Daniella, feeling excited, had her eyes shining at the possible recognition. "Yes, they were all my ideas, so tell me which you like, or don't like, I am sure I can make your dream house come through!"
  • He chuckled, "I am sure you can, Miss Daniella. Your designs have proved that to me."
  • Daniella grinned, holding the cup in her hands. "I will leave you to it." She sipped the drink, as her eyes scanned the cafe.
  • A car was parked outside the cafe. She was sure it wasn't hers because it was a black Mercedes Benz, and standing beside the car were two men in suits.
  • Suddenly, she catches a glimpse of man, holding a doughnut to his lips. He was muscular, tall and with broad shoulders. Most catching of all, was his blonde hair.
  • She couldn't see his face clearly, but his structure alone, brought her to her feet. "Daniel?" She whispered in disbelief.
  • After that discussion with Chris, she had recovered most of her memories, and they had been looking for her baby's father ever since.
  • This was the closest she had been, seeing a person with similar features as Daniel's.
  • "Is anything the matter Miss Daniella?" She heard Mr Joshua say, but she was too preoccupied with her thoughts.
  • Watching them enter the car, she ran to the door. "Daniel?" She shouted, pushing a customer. "Out of the way!"
  • "Daniel!" She yelled once she was out of the cafe, but it was too late.
  • Daniella watched the car zoom off, biting her lips and pushing her hair off her face. "Darn it!"
  • In the car, a man with a half-chewed doughnut in his hands, frowned, looking at his assistant. "Did you hear anyone calling my name?"
  • "No sir," the assistant replied, "did you hear something?"
  • "Never mind." The man dismissed, shoving the doughnut into his mouth. "I thought I heard someone calling my name."
