Chapter 2 You're Clueless

  • Leah grabbed the gun and pointed it at Ethan.
  • "Leah, don't ... " Penny quickly called out, her face flushed and breathing fast.
  • "Aunt Penny, what's going on? He's taking advantage of you!" Leah fumed.
  • "He's helping me tending my wound!" Penny insisted, knowing her own body well.
  • "I don't buy it! No way, I have to kill him!"
  • Bang!
  • In the heat of the moment, the gun went off, with a bullet narrowly missing between Ethan's legs.
  • "D*mn!"
  • Thankfully, Ethan reacted quickly and dodged. If he hadn't, not even finding a woman with pure form could have saved him, let alone his seniors.
  • "Leah, drop the gun!" Penny was drenched in sweat.
  • Leah was startled, and as she looked down, she noticed that Penny's leg injury had been bandaged up, with a bloody bullet lying discarded on the ground.
  • This realisation made her face grow hot, turning red as she realised her mistake.
  • A wave of guilt washed over her.
  • In truth, Leah was also caught off guard and confused. It was her first encounter with an assassination attempt, and she couldn't help but panic.
  • "You're such a wild girl. You're so beautiful, but so stubborn. You'll have trouble finding a good man in the future."
  • Ethan hurriedly stood up. He had tried to help out of goodwill, but nearly got castrated in the process.
  • Leah was feeling remorseful and on the verge of apologising when Ethan's remark ignited her anger.
  • "Who are you insulting?" she shot back.
  • Spotting a car approaching, Ethan swiftly grabbed his belongings and dashed onto the road.
  • "I can't provoke you, so I'll steer clear! You spoiled princess."
  • Flagging down the car, he promptly requested, "Sir, please take me to the Lewises Residence in Emberhold."
  • The driver, startled by the bodies on the road, drove on cautiously. He didn't dare to refuse Ethan getting into the car. He could only press down on the gas pedal obediently.
  • "Don't think you can escape!" Leah seethed, but Ethan was already gone.
  • Sitting inside, Ethan furrowed his brow. "Why do I sense a faint pure form aura? Is it just my imagination?"
  • Thinking of Leah with the gun, and her intimidating demeanour, he shook his head quickly. We're bound to clash sooner or later.
  • Ethan pushed aside thoughts of going back to check and silently prayed not to encounter them again in the future.
  • Meanwhile, Penny struggled to sit up.
  • "Leah, why did you scare him off? He might be a genius doctor who could save your father's life!"
  • Hearing this, Leah's face turned pale. Her father had raised and cared for her, and now he lay bedridden. Her heart twisted with anguish.
  • For her father, she was willing to do anything, but thinking of that unreliable man, she couldn't help but complain.
  • "Aunt Penny, what nonsense are you talking about? He's just a worthless beggar. If he had such abilities, he would have been popular long ago. Would he still be struggling like this?"
  • "Look carefully. My leg isn't bleeding anymore, and he accurately pinpointed the time of my heart condition, saving me. Such skills are beyond ordinary.
  • "Don't you want your father to get better?" Penny understood Leah's deep sense of filial piety.
  • To pray for her father's recovery, Leah had knelt for three days and nights at the foot of Serenity Peaks.
  • Looking at her aunt's condition and thinking of her father, Leah could only reluctantly relent.
  • "But he's already gone. How do we find him?"
  • "He just said he was going to Lewises Residence in Emberhold, right? Let's hurry and go invite him."
  • The Kings belonged to the top-tier families in Emberhold, while the Lewises were lower-tier ones. Asking for someone should not be difficult.
  • ...
  • Two hours later, Ethan, dressed in patched clothes, arrived at the Lewises in Emberhold with a marriage agreement in hand.
  • He happened to arrive just as Riley Lewis' marriage ceremony was taking place at the Lewises residence.
  • Upon seeing Ethan present a marriage agreement bearing Riley's name, the Lewises immediately surrounded him and started shouting.
  • "D*mn, where did this filthy beggar come from? How dare he bring this old marriage agreement to cause trouble? Do you want to be killed? Get lost!"
  • "Look at what you're wearing. You think you can claim to be Riley's fiancé?"
  • "You're clueless!" Ethan replied, "Clothes may be old, but they hold spiritual energy in cultivating immortality."
  • He had a lot on his plate this time descending from the mountain, but upon arriving in Emberhold, he heard that the Lewises Residence was nearby and decided to settle the matter of the marriage agreement first.
  • Back then, the Lewises were just a minor family. When their ancestor passed away, Ethan's master helped the Lewises find an excellent burial site in a prosperity tomb to ensure their wealth and gave them a valuable book containing business knowledge.
  • Fifteen years later, the Lewises had risen to prominence. But his master warned them that although prosperity tomb could bring good fortune, over time, it would also have long-term health consequences, and now time was running out.
  • So he decided to fulfil his engagement and then find a new burial site to move the tomb.
  • Otherwise, the Lewises would face serious consequences within the next two weeks.
  • Just as he arrived, he learned that the fiancée his master chose for him was marrying someone else.
  • Initially, Ethan didn't bother with it, thinking of cancelling the engagement and blessing their marriage.
  • He even considered helping them find a good burial site, not for great wealth but for health and longevity.
  • However, before he could say anything, they insulted and mocked him, which made him annoyed.
  • When the Lewises heard Ethan talk about cultivating immortality, they immediately sneered.
  • "Hmph! Not only are you broke, but you're also a lunatic! Cultivating immortality? Why don't you go home and cultivate immortality with your mother? Or is it that a piece of trash like you don't even have a mother?"
  • "Take a good look at yourself in a mirror. You piece of garbage, don't dirty our sight by being here!"
  • It was the wedding day of the Lewis family's eldest daughter, Riley.
  • Many heads of prominent families and CEOs of major corporations from Emberhold were present, all looking glamorous.
  • Unexpectedly, a beggar showed up holding a marriage agreement with Riley's name on it.
  • The Lewises, originally a three-star financial family in Emberhold, had finally managed to connect with the four-star Baxters to climb higher.
  • At such a critical moment, the Lewises wished they could just get rid of Ethan.
  • "Kid, get out of here," roared Michael Lewis, the family patriarch, all dressed up.
  • Ethan frowned and said, "Michael, you begged my master to sign this marriage agreement back then, just to suck up to him."
  • He had no feelings for Riley, and as soon as he arrived, he noticed she reeked of various men aura, clearly living a wild life.
  • She even had a legendary lustful physique.
  • But what the Lewises did was underhanded, which pissed him off.
  • "Stop talking nonsense!" Michael shouted angrily. "Your master just found a burial site and gave us a worthless book. It was all superstition, totally useless.
  • "Our family's success is entirely due to our own hard work.
  • "As for this scam marriage agreement, why don't you go home and see if your mom even believes it!"
  • Ethan narrowed his eyes. "You're being ungrateful, huh?"
  • Even if we don't mention the burial site, the book that my master gave to the Lewises were the painstaking work of the famous merchant in ancient times.
  • Nowadays, it's worth at least 750 million!
  • "Who do you think you are?" Riley, dressed in a wedding gown, stepped forward with a look of disgust.
  • "I, Riley, am beautiful and talented. Only a wealthy heir like Alfred is worthy of me.
  • "A poor loser like you isn't even fit to lick my shoes!"
  • With that, she threw herself into the arms of Alfred, who was dressed in a suit.
  • Alfred looked just like a fat pig.
  • "Kid, remember my name. Alfred Baxter, one of Emberhold's future top ten outstanding young men. Handsome, rich, and the future heir of the Baxters.
  • "And you? You're just a stinking beggar, not even qualified to compete with me for Riley."
  • Ethan sneered, "You fancy yourself for hooking up with someone like her? Instead of showing off here, you should go get a medical check-up instead."
  • "Ethan, you b*stard! How dare you insult me?" Riley was instantly furious, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.
  • She had indeed slept with many men.
  • But with so many in-laws present, she couldn't let them look down on her.
  • "Get him, someone, kill him!" Riley went hysterical, and Alfred grabbed a chair.
  • "That's enough!" Michael shouted angrily. "What kind of behaviour is this?"
  • There were many wealthy and influential figures present. Ethan didn't care about his reputation, but the Lewises were concerned about theirs.
  • "Coming here looking like this, you're just after money, aren't you?
  • "Here's 15 thousand dollars. Leave the marriage agreement."
  • "Fifteen thousand dollars?" Ethan sneered. "My master promised fifteen years of glory for your Lewises, and you're trying to disgust me?"
  • Riley pulled out a cheque for 15 thousand dollars and walked up to Ethan.
  • "You filthy beggar, you're here just to scam money, aren't you?
  • "Fifteen thousand dollars is more than enough for you. Be grateful!
  • "And take a good look at yourself before you speak!"
  • She snatched the marriage agreement from Ethan's hand. With gritted teeth, she tore it to shreds and threw it at him.
  • "You're not worthy to stand before me."
  • Ethan smiled faintly. "Are you sure you won't regret this?"
  • "Regret?" scoffed the Lewises. "You?"
  • "You'll never rise to our level in your lifetime.
  • "What could possibly make us regret?"
  • Riley couldn't help but sneer.
  • "Ethan, your luck only lets you hold a marriage agreement and stand before me to say a few words, to catch a whiff of my scent.
  • "Otherwise, a stinking beggar like you would never get a second glance from any woman in your life, let alone attention or marriage!"
  • "Who says no woman would pay attention to Mr. Bennett?" Just then, a melodious and elegant female voice sounded.
  • Soon after, two graceful and enchanting figures slowly approached.
