Chapter 8 Do You Still Want Aunt Penny?

  • Claudia tried to avoid arguing with Matthew so that his illness didn't get worse.
  • She went to the park by herself to clear her head.
  • She felt upset. The most important thing to her was marrying off her daughter to a good match, but Matthew was insisting on marrying her to a beggar.
  • If she wasn't afraid of making Matthew mad, she would have blown up right then.
  • "Mom!" Leah caught up. "Don't get mad. Dad might just be confused for a moment."
  • She pressed Isaac for a long time and still didn't get anything out of him.
  • "Even if he's confused, he shouldn't mess with your marriage!" Claudia said, her eyes suddenly turning fierce.
  • "Leah, don't worry. I'll get tough about this now."
  • Her maternal family ran a pharmaceutical company.
  • She ran her own company too.
  • And she had her fair share of dirty tricks just like anyone else.
  • Handling a country bumpkin wouldn't be a problem for her.
  • But when Leah heard that, she got flustered and hurriedly said, "It's okay, Mom, don't worry. I would never marry someone like him. I'll take care of it."
  • Even though she didn't like Ethan, hearing her mom talk about getting tough made her step in to stop it right away.
  • "Can you really handle it?" Claudia asked.
  • "Don't worry, Mom. By the way, how are your preparations for the Medicine God Competition?"
  • Leah linked arms with Claudia, changing the subject.
  • Claudia's expression brightened. Becoming the Medicine God was her lifelong dream, and now was a crucial moment.
  • "My main competitor is basically Yolanda from the Daniel family, but I've always had the upper hand over her. It should be fine."
  • "That's good ... "
  • Ding ding!
  • Leah was about to say something more when her phone rang.
  • She halted after answering and then said, "Mom, we have to go back home. There's a call."
  • "Okay."
  • Claudia took a deep breath, and turned around, but as she reached into her pocket, she felt the ancient prescription.
  • Her face immediately turned ugly.
  • "What a piece of junk, disgusting!" she exclaimed with disdain, throwing it on the ground.
  • Shortly after, she left the park directly.
  • Not long after, two women approached, one in front and one behind.
  • Leading the way was an alluring woman in her thirties, with a seductive figure and graceful movements, giving off a foxy charm at first glance.
  • She was Claudia's arch-rival and a strong competitor for the next Medicine God title—Yolanda Daniel.
  • Following behind was Riley from the Lewis family, who had just broken off her engagement with Ethan.
  • "Yolanda, my grandpa suddenly fell ill today.
  • "He's in a lot of pain and asked me to come find you for medicine. You need to hurry."
  • Riley was really worried.
  • In fact, her grandpa hadn't been doing well lately.
  • But today, right after the wedding, he started feeling sick—nausea, no appetite, and dizzy.
  • He looked like he was about to pass away.
  • "Okay, got it. I'll prepare some medicine for him as soon as I get back." Yolanda nodded.
  • But the next moment, she noticed a crumpled piece of paper on the ground, with words that seemed related to medicinal herbs.
  • "What's this?"
  • As the chairperson of a pharmaceutical company, she naturally was sensitive to such things.
  • However, after opening and reading the paper, she froze in place, her mouth gaping in disbelief.
  • "Yolanda, it's just a piece of paper. Hurry up and get medicine for my grandpa," Riley urged, not understanding the situation and urging her to act quickly.
  • "What do you know? It's not just a piece of paper!" Yolanda suddenly went crazy with excitement.
  • "T-this could be the legendary Bone Regenerating Ointment prescription. I've seen a partial version before, but this looks complete!"
  • Yolanda's heart raced with excitement, her hands trembling. "Heaven is smiling on me, Heaven is smiling on me! This is the exclusive ancient formula of a famous Medical Deity from three hundred years ago!"
  • The Medical Deity was a legend in Draconia!
  • "It not only regenerates tendons and bones but also removes scars and keeps you looking young. It's worth at least 75 billion!"
  • "Seventy-five billion?!" Riley's face turned pale in shock.
  • Yolanda's legs went weak, feeling a surge of excitement.
  • "If this ancient formula is real and I produce it, the Daniels will crush the Woods five times, ten times over!
  • "Then, I'll be the new Medicine God!"
  • Yolanda's face flushed with determination. The Daniels had always been overshadowed by the Woods, especially by that woman Claudia.
  • She was almost driven mad thinking about becoming the Medicine God, and now that fate had given her a chance, she would ruthlessly take down Claudia!
  • "Congratulations, Yolanda!" Riley didn't understand what was going on, but she joined in enthusiastically.
  • Yolanda suddenly warned Riley, "Remember, today's matter must be kept completely secret. Don't tell anyone. I'll start production right away and when the time is ripe, I'll take down Claudia in an instant!"
  • "Okay!" Riley nodded quickly.
  • Yolanda hurried home and went through a series of specialised checks.
  • The prescription was indeed genuine!
  • ...
  • Meanwhile, at the Kings's side, because Matthew's condition had improved, everyone in the family was in good spirits.
  • Claudia, with Leah in tow, asked the Kings' servants, "Did Dr. Lowe and the others leave?"
  • "Yes, they left with Mr. Ferguson," one servant replied.
  • Claudia nodded. "We really owe Dr. Lowe big-time for his help today.
  • "That guy is really a joke. He just brought out that old piece of paper claiming it's some ancient recipe, saying it could at least increase Woods's market value tenfold. Ridiculous."
  • Looking around, Leah asked, "Where's he now?"
  • "Ms. King took him to arrange a room for him," a servant quickly responded.
  • In the Kings' backyard, Penny leaned on her cane as she brought Ethan inside herself.
  • Penny loved wearing pencil skirts and tight dresses, and she definitely had the kind of appeal that could turn heads.
  • Before her curves, men had no resistance whatsoever.
  • Even now, leaning on her cane, she moved with a sway that radiated charm.
  • This made Ethan have to look away.
  • After all, she was going to be his aunt-in-law soon, so he had to keep his thoughts in check.
  • But soon, Ethan started to frown.
  • The more he looked, the more something seemed off.
  • "This doesn't feel right!" Ethan muttered.
  • "The Kings's place was really big, with front yards, courtyards, and backyards spread over thousands of square meters."
  • "What's wrong?" Penny turned to ask with a gentle smile on her face.
  • But her gaze now held a hint of amusement, almost like she was looking at a child.
  • Remembering their first meeting and comparing it to now, she found it a bit funny.
  • It felt like Ethan was riding his luck pretty well.
  • Not seeing Penny's expression, he frowned in thought.
  • "Actually, I've been thinking about it since the first moment I came to this residence. There's this small river that runs from the front door all the way to the back, and the scenery is really charming.
  • "But when you add in those two gnarled pines on the left, the two black Catalpas on the right, and the specific spots with devil's trumpet, red spider lily, poppy, and snow rose around ...
  • "This is a corridor water!
  • "It's going to wipe out everyone in the Kings!"
  • Corridor water, passes through the hall, piercing through the intestines.
  • It would let the evil spirits of heaven and earth enter with the river, and the vitality would come out with the river.
  • It was a very secretive formation that few people knew about. It seemed someone wanted to exterminate the Kings!
  • "What the? First gnarled pines, now corridor water."
  • Penny couldn't help but laugh. "And earlier today, you were talking about that tomb of Michael from the Lewises.
  • "I've got you figured out, kid. You're pretty smart with your plans, but don't be too cunning, okay?
  • "Such a troublemaker!"
  • Shaking her head, Penny clearly felt less hopeful about Ethan's actions towards Matthew today.
  • Soon, she led Ethan to a guest room upstairs. Despite her injured thigh, she insisted on making the bed for Ethan.
  • "Penny, let me do it." Ethan hurriedly stepped forward. However, his mind was preoccupied with thoughts of the corridor water, and he accidentally brushed against Penny's hand without noticing.
  • Their hands collided. It felt silky and soft.
  • "Oh, I'm sorry, Penny!" Ethan quickly apologised.
  • Penny, however, gave Ethan a strange smile and said nothing.
  • "You little rascal, you're not well-behaved.
  • "What? Are you not satisfied with taking Emberhold's number one beauty today? Do you want to eat me too?"
  • Speaking of this, Penny took a step forward, and the long legs that jumped out of her pencil skirt were fair, tender, and attractive.
  • Then, she made an extremely bold move ...
