Chapter 63 Settling In

  • Roxanne was escorted to a large room on the third floor and she noted, her cheeks heating up, that it was on the same floor as Van Dyke’s rooms. Swinging her head, her son clutched in her arms, she turned to look around the room, taking in the view. Two large windows ensured that the room was airy and probably filled with sunlight in the mornings. An attempt had been made; to make the room child-friendly and she smiled at the large posters of some cartoon characters that had been hastily tacked up. A large bed, complete with a baby guard, was set up in the middle of the room and a play area, with a few rattles and toys, had been arranged in the centre of the room.
  • She guessed that eh adjoining bedroom was to be hers, for it was obvious that Van Dyke would not want his son to be separated from her so abruptly. Gruff and fearsome he might be, but his manner hid a loving heart, at last when it came to his son!
  • “Didn’t know what the little chap would like,” said Bruno apologetically and Roxanne turned to smile at him. The man had been studying Xander intently and now, he let out a breath, shaking his head with a rueful smile.
