Chapter 9 Make Him Happy
- Helen insisted, "Mrs. Snow, these candies are your reward for making Mr. Eric happy, but you haven't finished your task yet. I can't give them to you now."
- "I'm on it now!"
- With those words, Demi jumped out of bed and dashed downstairs.
- Helen couldn't help but smile and urged helplessly, "Mrs. Snow, slow down! Don't hurt yourself!"
- As Demi reached the ground floor, she saw Eric sitting gracefully, enjoying breakfast. Every movement of his exuded a sense of cold elegance, his appearance so striking it could take anyone's breath away.
- Demi squinted her eyes and assessed him. Tsk, tsk, tsk. With that face, I have nothing to lose to sleep with him.
- Just as Eric cast a glance in her direction, Demi instantly reverted to her usual silly demeanor. She flashed a playful grin and said goofily, "Honey, good morning!"
- Eric's gaze fell on her bare feet. His brow furrowed deeply, and he called out coldly, "Helen."
- Helen was startled to be addressed suddenly. She quickly followed his line of sight to see Demi standing there barefoot. Realizing this, she hurried over, coaxing Demi gently.
- "Mrs. Snow, put your shoes on or you'll catch a cold."
- Demi didn't make it difficult for Helen and obediently slipped on her shoes.
- Seeing Demi being so cooperative made Helen grow even more fond of her. She leaned in and whispered softly, "See! Mr. Eric cares for you, Mrs. Snow. He was worried you'd get sick!"
- Hearing this, Demi clicked her tongue inwardly but outwardly displayed a delighted smile. She deliberately raised her voice.
- "Oh, it turns out Honey cares so much about me!"
- Eric shot a cold warning glance at Helen. Terrified, she immediately shut her mouth, not daring to say another word.
- He slowly withdrew his gaze. His face was cold as he stood up.
- Eric warned, "Say more nonsense like that again, I'll send you back to the estate."
- Intimidated by his commanding presence, Helen bowed her head respectfully and responded, "Yes, Mr. Eric, I understand."
- Without giving her another glance, Eric took long strides toward the door.
- Demi hurried to catch up with him and asked, "Honey, are you leaving already? But I haven't had the chance to make you happy yet!"
- Eric raised a brow and asked, "Made me happy?"
- Demi tilted her head, gazing softly at him. She spoke sweetly, "Helen said if I make you happy, I'd get a lot of candy. So, Honey, what do I need to do to make you happy?"
- Eric snorted lightly. Did he truly require a little fool to bring him happiness?
- Before he could say anything, Demi quickly stood on her toes and planted a fleeting kiss on his cheek.
- Eric froze instantly. His body stiffened as an unfamiliar sense of awkwardness began to creep up inside him.
- Yet he quickly suppressed those emotions. He was about to scold her when he met her bright, innocent eyes. The words seemed to lodge in his throat, preventing him from expressing them.
- Demi was smiling sweetly, her gaze innocent as she asked, "So, Honey, are you happy now?"
- Eric's eyes darkened. He felt a sudden urge to teach her a lesson. How could a young woman behave so freely?
- "Don't ever do that again. And definitely not to other men!"
- Upon hearing that, Demi's eyes brightened, and she nodded, seemingly grasping a new understanding. "Oh, I understand now! I won't kiss anyone else but you!"
- Is that what I meant?
- Eric pressed his lips into a thin line, clearly feeling tricky to handle the situation. Meanwhile, Demi moved even closer, her voice soft and playful.
- "Honey, are you still upset? Then, I'll kiss you again."
- Eric immediately stepped back, placing a hand on her head to hold her off. His face darkened.
- Gently restrained, Demi began to whine, feigning pity.
- "Waaah, honey, let go of me! I feel uncomfortable!"
- Thinking about the pile of troubles that awaited his attention at the company, Eric had no choice but to let go.
- His voice was cold as ice, and he declared, "I'll deal with you when I get back!"
- With those words, he strode out, departing swiftly.
- Watching him walk away in frustration, Demi's lips curled into a subtle, knowing smile.
- Eric wasn't someone who could be easily fooled. If she didn't act convincingly enough, he would catch on sooner or later.
- Now, he wouldn't suspect a thing.
- Helen finally wiped off the sweat from her brow, relieved that the tense situation had passed after Eric left.
- "That was so terrifying! Mrs. Snow, you really are something!"
