Chapter 7 Heart Stirred

  • Eric wasn't prepared at all when she suddenly threw him onto the bed with such force.
  • Now, they were incredibly close—so close that even their breaths mingled together.
  • Their eyes met. He stared into her clear, innocent gaze. Eric felt his heart skipped a beat.
  • Her subtle, sweet scent filled the air around them. Eric's body froze as he felt the soft sensation.
  • The atmosphere between them suddenly became full of tension.
  • "Honey, Juliet said we should share things with each other. So tonight, I'm sharing this little bunny with you! You can hold it while you sleep tonight!"
  • Demi's cheerful words instantly shattered the tension.
  • She even had that adorable 'I'm so generous' expression, making it impossible for him to lash out at her.
  • Eric's body stiffened as he abruptly sat up.
  • Seeing this, Demi deliberately irritating him. She mischievously suppressed a laugh and looked at him innocently. "Honey? Why did you get up? Weren't we going to bed?"
  • As she spoke, she reached out to pull him back down onto the bed.
  • Eric quickly dodged her touch, battling the strange feelings swirling inside him. Without saying a word, he frowned and left the room.
  • Watching him stride away, Demi lazily and smugly smirked.
  • As expected, the older ones were wiser. He still had a lot to learn if he wanted to outplay her.
  • Satisfied, she claimed the entire bed for herself, sinking into the cozy covers.
  • Feeling exhausted, likely because she hadn't fully adapted to this body yet, Demi soon drifted into a deep sleep.
  • Meanwhile, downstairs ...
  • As soon as Eric descended the stairs, Ashley approached respectfully.
  • "Mr. Eric, about your divorce from Mrs. Snow ... "
  • At the mention of this, Eric's head throbbed with frustration as he thought of Juliet's stance.
  • He furrowed his brow before speaking coldly, "Put it on hold for now. We'll deal with it later."
  • "Yes, Mr. Eric," Ashley answered, bowing slightly. After a brief pause, he added, "Mr. Eric, some people at the company are becoming restless again."
  • Eric's expression was unfazed, but the coldness in his eyes deepened.
  • Just as he had anticipated. During his time abroad, certain ambitious people had begun making moves behind his back.
  • If that was the case, then they were due for a serious response from him.
  • ...
  • At the hospital.
  • "Alanna, what happened to you? How did you get hurt so badly?"
  • Karen rushed over in panic as soon as she learned that Alanna was in the hospital.
  • The sight of Alanna's swollen face and her dislocated arm made Karen's heart ache.
  • "Alanna, what's going on? Tell me, who dared to hit you? I'll make sure they pay for this!"
  • The Harts may not dominate Phora like the Snows, but they were still one of the top families. Who would be so foolish as to mess with my daughter?
  • This person must have a death wish!
  • A cold fury ignited in Karen's eyes, sending shivers down anyone's spine.
  • Hearing her mother's words only deepened Alanna's sense of grievance. She bit her lip in frustration.
  • "Mom, it was that little witch, Demi!"
  • "What?!"
  • Karen gasped, disbelief written all over her face. "Alanna, don't joke with me. How could that idiot possibly have the guts to hit you?"
  • Her mother's doubt only made Alanna feel more wronged.
  • Grinding her teeth, she spat, "Mom, I'm serious! It was Demi! You have no idea! She has transformed into a completely different person. She beat me up and then pretended to be innocent in front of Eric, which led him to ban me from ever entering Clotaire Villa again."
  • Karen's shock deepened as she processed her daughter's words. After a moment of contemplation, she finally spoke.
  • "Alanna, are you saying Demi's not an idiot anymore?"
  • Alanna nodded furiously, her anger evident. "Mom, she's definitely not stupid anymore! Otherwise, how could she have dared to hit me and then act like nothing happened in front of Eric? If she was still that idiot, she'd never be able to pull off something like this!"
  • Seeing how agitated Alanna was, Karen immediately soothed her.
  • "Alanna, don't worry. Whether or not Demi's still an idiot, I'll find out when I visit the villa tomorrow. Relax; I won't let her get away with this. I'll make sure that fool pays twice over for what she's done to you."
