Chapter 5 Apology and Reconciliation

  • "Grandpa, it wasn't Brayden. It was actually this gentleman who saved you," Emily explained casually, nodding towards Felix with a newfound respect in her tone.
  • Old Mr. McCoy glanced up at Felix, looking slightly surprised to see him dressed as a delivery rider.
  • "Hey buddy, are you a doctor, too? Where did you learn all this stuff?" Old Mr. McCoy's curiosity about Felix's background was piqued.
  • Having faced his mortality, Old Mr. McCoy had consulted a bunch of big-name doctors who all gave him a bleak outlook. Now, thanks to Felix, he was feeling much better and was hopeful that he would have a few more good years ahead of him.
  • Feeling grateful, Old Mr. McCoy wanted to know more about Felix and his treatment approach.
  • "I'm sorry, Old Mr. McCoy. I can't spill the beans," Felix replied, keeping his cards close to his chest. He refused to divulge any information regarding matters of the Spectral Citadel, which he considered confidential.
  • Respecting Felix's privacy, Old Mr. McCoy let it slide.
  • "Miss McCoy, now that your grandpa's up and about, I'm going to head out," Felix announced, getting ready to bounce.
  • "I'll walk you out!" Emily chimed in, eager to thank Felix some more.
  • Emily hurried to catch up with Felix.
  • As they left the room, Old Mr. McCoy furrowed his brow slightly,
  • "Old Mr. McCoy, I've got some things to take care of. I shall leave now. I'll swing by to check on you later!" Brayden hurriedly bid his farewell before leaving the room.
  • "Master, thanks for saving my grandpa today!" Emily expressed her gratitude towards Felix as they stepped out of the ward.
  • "Just call me Felix. Felix Cohen," Felix replied, feeling awkward about the title "Master."
  • "I'm Emily McCoy. You saved my grandpa today, and I don't know how to thank you. Here, I prepared this card with five million on it. Please, take it!" Emily offered Felix a bank card as a token of her gratitude.
  • However, Felix politely declined the offer, shaking his head.
  • "Miss McCoy, no need for thanks. You rescued me yesterday, so it's only fair I help your grandpa today," Felix waved off Emily's offer of gratitude.
  • "Hmm... If you want to thank me, settle my hospital bill, alright?" he added.
  • Emily immediately arranged for Felix's medical expenses to be covered by their family account. With that sorted, Felix was ready to leave the hospital. He was about to return to Charlotte's place when Brayden suddenly appeared.
  • "Master, wait up!" Brayden's urgent tone caught Felix's attention.
  • Felix raised an eyebrow, curious about the interruption. "What's up? How can I help you?"
  • Brayden surprised him by dropping to his knees with a thud, apologizing on the ground, "I messed up, Master! Please forgive me!"
  • Felix blinked in surprise at Brayden's unexpected apology. He never anticipated the usually arrogant Brayden to be so straightforward. Seeing him kneel and apologize like this was quite a shock.
  • Despite the seriousness of the situation, he couldn't help but find it amusing.
  • Felix offered some advice, "Remember, there's always someone better out there. Don't get cocky next time."
  • "I've learned my lesson, Master," Brayden assured him.
  • "Alright, get up," Felix replied, trying to contain his amusement.
  • Felix wasn't one to hold grudges. Since Brayden admitted his mistake, Felix saw no reason to make things difficult.
  • "Master, I want to make it up to you by hosting a banquet. Please don't say no," Brayden proposed.
  • However, Felix declined, "Thanks, but I have stuff to handle."
  • "Sure thing. Could you share your contact so I can apologize properly later?" Brayden asked.
  • Felix nodded, handing over his number without hesitation.
  • After leaving his number, Felix hailed a taxi to Charlotte's house to retrieve his belongings. Now that he had regained his memory, he realized it was time to cut ties with Charlotte.
