Chapter 6 The Withers Family

• Back at the Withers family residence.
• "Easy there, Robbie. Not so rough. It hurts!"
• "B*tch, that's exactly what I like!"
• Nolan, with his bandaged head, roughly yanked Charlotte's clothes off again and forced her down on the couch in the living room. However, the door creaked open to reveal Felix. His safe return shocked them both, especially Nolan, whom the truck driver had informed that Felix was done for. How was he here in one piece?
• Their surprise didn't escape Felix's notice and only fueled his suspicion that they were behind yesterday's big truck fiasco.
• "You loser, back for more? I'll finish you off this time!" Nolan, not caring why Felix survived nor knowing why, only desired payback for yesterday and angrily grabbed an ashtray from the table before swinging it at Felix's head.
• Smack!
• Felix retaliated, which sent Nolan flying into the table and broke it to bits, making Nolan howl in pain and lose some teeth.
• "Don't!" Seeing Felix about to go to town on Nolan, Charlotte stepped in to shield Nolan.
• Shooting her a freezing glance, Felix turned and headed to the tiny bathroom, which had been his uncomfortable quarters for three years and only contained a thin blanket. He extracted from within the blanket a small black box obtained from the Spectral Citadel and constructed from an obscure material.
• Despite not knowing its contents, it definitely had something extraordinary that was connected to the Spectral Citadel, as it had attracted the attention of the Holy Cavalry and the Shadow Legion and made them fight for it. He had tried to open the box all those years using different ways, but it was disappointingly too stubborn.
• As he stepped out, Felix was about to talk about divorce with Charlotte when the door opened again to admit her parents and little sister, along with a somewhat hunchbacked man around seventy, into the room.
• "Grandpa? Mom? Dad? Why are you here?" Charlotte, nervous about Nolan's presence, subtly moved away from him as their affair wasn't for family ears. Who knew what Timothy would do if he knew about this?
• "Charlotte, who's this?"
• Her grandfather, Timothy Withers, looked at the pathetic-looking Nolan on the couch. Timothy had visited entirely because, according to the popular Northriver geomancy expert Chandler Worth, a lucky star would arrive at Charlotte's side at the Withers family residence that day and bring the family good luck if they greatly appreciated that mascot.
• However, a star of calamity would appear too and implicate them if not driven away. That was why Timothy hadn't been able to sit idle and had hurried to the Withers family residence at once.
• "A-a classmate, Nolan Robins," answered Charlotte anxiously, fearing that Felix had exposed the affair to Timothy and Timothy had come today to punish her.
