Chapter 10 Anger

  • Elizabeth directed a sneer at Felix after he was done. "Heh, you disgusting vagrant, why are you around? Know where this is? It is a top-notch joint. You probably can't even pay for anything here ever."
  • Fiona chimed in, too, "Exactly. You, a grubby delivery guy, dining here? You are probably here to snag some freebies. Get out and quit stinking up the place!"
  • Fiona's complaint disrupted the peaceful atmosphere for other diners and annoyed several of them, but others couldn't stand Fiona and Elizabeth's bullying, and so defended Felix.
  • "Delivery folks need to eat too. What was that for?"
  • "Exactly! You're such a b*tch!"
  • Fiona couldn't stand being insulted. "How dare you call me a b*tch?"
  • The fact that Fiona was getting riled up worried Fred as almost everyone present belonged to the Riverford elite circle, and offending them might endanger Fred's position.
  • Charlotte also got the hint Fiona had caused a scene and stepped in at once. "What are you up to? Quit making a scene!"
  • Fiona knew that she had gone too far and merely shot a glare at the insulting person and shut up.
  • "Alright, cool down, everyone. She went a bit overboard. Apologies on her behalf!" After smoothing things over with the irked patrons, Fred looked toward Felix.
  • "If you're having a meal here, can you pay up first so nobody thinks you're here for a free meal, sir?"
  • It was a sly move on Fred's part; if Felix could cough up the cash, then it wouldn't be complicated, but if he was broke, he could be invited to vacate the premises with not too big of a commotion and hurt the place's name.
  • "I'm broke. Someone else is picking up the tab!" Felix answered with the truth.
  • "Heh, really? Felix, you're just a delivery guy. Who would do that?"
  • "Stop making me laugh. You're just a poacher mooching off others!" Elizabeth mocked smugly. "Heard that, Mr. Lawston? Kick him out, pronto!"
  • Fred's face shifted, and he signaled for a couple of servers to take Felix away. "Remove this man to my office. I think he's attempting to take advantage!"
  • The two waiters escorted Felix off as instructed.
  • Brayden had meanwhile gone to where Felix had occupied with a youth outfitted casually in branded clothes and immediately questioned the waiters cleaning the scraps, "Where's the person occupying this table?"
  • The server knew it was his employer and Brayden. "Mr. Lawston thought he was attempting to score a free ride and had him moved to his office."
  • Brayden was enraged as he had specially invited Felix to make amends, yet Felix was now being vilified.
  • "For heavens' sake, Fred, you're going to rue this."
  • Brayden barged into Fred's office while fuming to discover that Felix was being restricted by two waiters in a corner; Nolan relaxing in Fred's office with legs intertwined while Charlotte and her family stood off to one side to watch the proceedings.
  • "Were you here to mooch off of us?" questioned Fred.
  • "I'll repeat once more. It was someone else's treat," Felix answered coolly.
  • "Why are you continuing your act now?"
