Chapter 2 Regain the Memory

  • As Felix walked down the street, he was suddenly met by a torrential rainstorm that drenched him to the bone with its relentless downpour. Like a lost soul, he wandered along the road. Each step was weighed down by uncertainty about his next destination after departing from the Withers Family.
  • His recollection of events from three years prior was a blank slate. He couldn't piece together his identity or the circumstances leading up to his current state. All he knew was that he had somehow found himself on the streets of Riverford three years ago. Nearly frozen and on the brink of starvation, the Withers Family had taken him in, eventually leading to his marriage to Charlotte.
  • Lost in his thoughts, Felix unconsciously wandered to a bleak crossroads.
  • Suddenly, a blinding light appeared as a truck hurtled toward him. Instinctively, he shut his eyes and stood frozen in place. However, the driver made no attempt to decelerate. Instead, the truck surged forward and crashed into Felix with relentless intensity.
  • With a resounding bang, the truck collided with Felix, launching him airborne before he crashed onto the unforgiving pavement below. His head struck the ground, blood mingling with rainwater as the truck swiftly vanished into the downpour.
  • The next day, Felix was startled awake in the opulent surroundings of a private hospital in Riverford. His scream pierced the quiet of the ward, his face contorted with pain and anger as he pleaded, "No! Please don't!"
  • A nurse rushed to his side, asking, "Are you alright? How do you feel?"
  • Felix remained silent, lost in the labyrinth of his thoughts. Scenes and figures from his past flooded his mind—the Divine Sanctuary, the Shadow Legion of Poglala, and the Holy Cavalry of Stellaria. His memories unfolded before him like scenes from a vivid movie.
  • After what seemed like an eternity, Felix's memories came rushing back to him in a torrent of recollection.
  • Born into the esteemed Schneider Family in Claudan, Felix was exiled at fifteen. He spent the next decade building the formidable force known as the Divine Sanctuary.
  • Three years ago, Felix stumbled upon a treasure map by chance. This map revealed the location of ancient sect ruins on a distant island. Rumors swirled of ancient immortal cultivators' cave dwellings and countless treasures within these ruins. With unwavering determination, he led his men to uncover the hidden treasures.
  • True to the rumors, the small island housed the inheritance of an ancient sect called the Spectral Citadel. Despite facing numerous dangers, Felix successfully secured the inheritance.
  • Just as he prepared to withdraw with his men, the Holy Cavalry of Stellaria, the Shadow Legion of Poglala, and various other forces from different countries ambushed them.
  • During the attack, the Divine Sanctuary was nearly perished. However, Felix managed to escape with his life thanks to the bravery of his few remaining subordinates despite being surrounded by hundreds of enemies and severely injured.
  • Felix fled to Riverford in Veridiania with his grievous wounds, and there he got involved with marrying into the Withers Family.
  • "Are you okay? Why aren't you responding?" the nurse's voice snapped Felix back to the present.
  • "I'm fine. May I know who brought me here?" Felix asked.
  • "It was Miss McCoy from the McCoy Family. She found you injured and brought you to the hospital," the nurse explained.
  • Puzzled, Felix repeated, "Miss McCoy from the McCoy Family?"
  • The nurse elaborated, and realization dawned on Felix. Oh, it turns out Miss McCoy is Emily McCoy from the prominent McCoy Family in Riverford.
  • Felix was well acquainted with the McCoy Family in Riverford, renowned as one of the most influential families in the area. Their patriarch, having held the esteemed position of senior military officer, had retired from service a few years earlier.
