Chapter 15 Treatment

  • Felix was greeted by the scent of a variety of medicinal herbs the second he stepped foot into the warehouse.
  • So, he swiftly began selecting the herbs he needed after perusing the shelves.
  • "Mr. Hamilton, I don't have any money on me right now. How much do these herbs cost? Please keep it on my tab. I'll definitely pay you back in full once I have the cash," Felix said, feeling somewhat awkward.
  • Charlotte's family had taken all the wages he had earned from delivering takeout over the years, leaving him penniless.
  • Therefore, he couldn't even look at the man as he made this audacious request.
  • Mr. Hamilton waved his hand dismissively. "Master Cohen, please. We're all friends here, are we not? It's an honor to have someone of your caliber here to purchase the herbs in my humble apothecary. Besides, you're Brayden's friend. How could I accept your money? These herbs aren't worth much. Consider them a gift, Master Cohen!"
  • "Mr. Cohen, just take them!" Brayden chimed in.
  • "Very well. I'll be taking them, then. In return, I'll come by tomorrow with herbs that could alleviate your health concerns, Mr. Hamilton."
  • Felix had noticed that Mr. Hamilton seemed to be struggling with some health issues. He didn't bother inquiring about it as it concerned a certain area.
  • Meanwhile, Mr. Hamilton's eyes lit up the minute he heard those words.
  • Felix had pinpointed his hidden ailment without even taking his pulse!
  • He had suffered from this illness for years. He had even cast his pride aside to seek help from his grandfather and Brayden. Alas, his grandfather, who was a renowned doctor in his own right, couldn't even provide a cure.
  • "Master Cohen, there's a cure?" Alex exclaimed, grabbing Felix's arm eagerly.
  • He had put off getting married because of his illness. He didn't want to cause any pain for his future wife.
  • "Absolutely. I'll bring the medicine tomorrow. You'll be able to see the results once you try it yourself."
  • "Thank you so much, Master Cohen!"
  • Felix intended to ask Brayden for help after they left the apothecary. He needed a secluded spot where he wouldn't be bothered. After all, it wasn't as if his home was a welcoming embrace.
  • Suddenly, Brayden's phone rang.
  • "Mr. Hamilton, there's been an accident. Mr. Solari was involved in a car accident and is in critical condition. The doctors are unable to save him. Can you come in?" the driver's voice, fraught with anxiety, came through the phone.
  • "I'll be there right away!"
  • "Did Caio get into a car accident?" Felix inquired.
  • "Yes, Caio is in critical condition..."
  • Brayden trailed off mid-conversation as he recalled Felix's prediction. He had warned Caio that he would be involved in a tragedy just a few hours ago!
  • "Mr. Cohen, you are truly remarkable!"
  • Brayden arrived at the hospital located at the heart of the city about 10 minutes later.
  • Once he got out of the car, Caio's driver rushed over in a panic, blubbering, "Mr. Hamilton, you're finally here. Please save Mr. Solari."
  • Brayden didn't tarry any further as he followed the driver to the emergency room.
  • Caio was covered in blood. The weak rise and fall of his chest was the only indicator that he was still alive. There was a team of medical staff looking through his records. Alas, their expressions were grim and troubled.
  • "What's the situation?" Brayden asked Caio's primary doctor as he examined Caio.
  • The doctor responded concisely, "Mr. Hamilton, Mr. Solari has multiple bone fractures and a significant blood clot in his brain. We're hesitant to operate on him due to that blood clot."
  • Brayden examined the CT scan of Caio's brain after assessing Caio's condition and confirming the doctor's prognosis.
  • Yet, he nearly did a double take when he saw the blood clot in Caio's brain.
  • The doctor was correct in making the decision not to operate. Even if they attempted to push forward with the surgery, the chances of Caio's survival were so slim that the risk wasn't worth it.
  • "Allow me!"
  • Felix stepped forward just as Brayden was at a loss for what to do.
  • He immediately noticed that Caio's condition was deteriorating rapidly. It might be too late to snatch the man from the jaws of death if the blood clot in his brain wasn't addressed promptly.
  • The doctors and nurses turned to observe Felix curiously, unaware of his identity.
  • Still, they were puzzled to see Felix dressed in a simple courier uniform. They couldn't help but wonder, Is it a good idea to hand the report over? Is the delivery business so steep that they've started dabbling in medicine for better rates?
