Chapter 11 Brayden the Knight
- Nolan had already briefed Fred during his journey toward the private room.
- Felix was just a delivery guy. He wasn't someone who would frequent the restaurant. Therefore, he certainly wouldn't have any friends who would treat him to a meal here out of the kindness of their hearts.
- "I see. Then, I'll step in if you refuse to own up to your actions," Fred asserted.
- He signaled for two waiters to step in. He was all for playing along with Nolan's earlier hint to teach Felix a lesson.
- Alas, a loud crash reverberated outside the door. Before anyone could react, the door swung open with a loud bang just as the waiters were poised to act.
- "Fred, you'll pay for this!" Brayden burst in, his fury escalating as he witnessed Felix being restrained.
- The sight of a waiter poised to strike Felix fueled his rage, driving him to deliver a forceful kick to Fred's chest.
- Brayden proceeded to brutally punch the two waiters the instant Fred was down for the count.
- Once he had dealt with them, he turned to Felix and swiftly offered an apology, saying earnestly, "Master Cohen, I'm truly sorry about this. This is on me."
- Fred was still sprawled on the ground when he heard Brayden apologizing to Felix. His face immediately became drained of color when another nugget of information slammed into his brain—the man was a close friend of his boss.
- Moreover, Fred was utterly dumbstruck to hear someone of Brayden's caliber addressing someone else so respectfully.
- He was well aware of Brayden's clout after spending his years working in the service industry.
- I'm finished!
- I'm so screwed!
- Right now, Fred felt as though he could see his glorious career crumbling before him. Soon, his despair morphed into resentment toward Nolan and Charlotte.
- He had initially brushed Felix off, thinking he was just some guy working as a courier. His dismissive attitude only intensified after hearing Nolan and Charlotte's explanation. Yet, now he was forced to witness Brayden showering someone he had held in contempt with reverence.
- Nolan and Charlotte also found themselves equally baffled by Felix's sudden elevation from a mere deliveryman to a figure of respect.
- Since when did Felix, the worthless beggar, turn into this 'Master Cohen?'
- Besides, the newcomers appeared to have powerful backgrounds, prompting them to wonder how Felix became connected to such individuals.
- Elizabeth, who was both dumb and spoiled rotten, couldn't believe that someone was actually defending Felix. So, she instantly shrieked, "Who the hell are you lot? Who allowed you entry? Get the hell out!"
- Smack!
- Fred swiftly silenced her before she could say anything else.
- "Zip it, you cunt!" he barked.
- "How dare you hurt my daughter, you trash?! I'll kill you!" Fiona wasted no time lunging at Fred in defense of Elizabeth, wholly infuriated to see her daughter being mistreated.
- Smack!
- Hence, the resentful Fred continued to strike Fiona across the face as well.
- Once he did that, he immediately fell to his knees before Brayden and his boss. Before they could do anything to him, he blurted, "Mr. Hamilton, Boss, I'm sorry. This is all my fault. I fell for their poisonous tongues and misunderstood that Mr. Cohen wasn't going to pay for his meal!"
- Smack!
- Brayden felt another surge of anger welling up in him as he slapped Fred silly.
- "What's the point of having eyes if you aren't even going to use them?!"
- After he said those words, he stepped forward, fully intending to beat Fred up black and blue. Fortunately for Fred, Felix stepped in and stopped Brayden from continuing his rampage.
- "That's enough. It's not that big of a deal."
- Brayden gritted his teeth and inhaled deeply. Then, he turned to Fred and growled, "Well? Thank Master Cohen for being merciful!”
- Fred immediately obliged as he banged his head against the ground, spluttering, "Thank you, Master Cohen! Thank you so much!"
- Meanwhile, Fiona, who had been recovering from the ordeal, turned to Nolan. She held his arm tightly as she wailed, "Nolan, you have to help Elizabeth and me!"
- Fiona knew full well that she had no way of making them budge with her meager power. So, she could only turn to her precious son-in-law for help. She wanted Nolan to make those men pay for this injustice.
- On the flip side, Nolan felt a twinge of discomfort after Fred disclosed that one of the two individuals before them was, in fact, the hotel owner.
- The hotel belonged to the esteemed Solari Family in Cubrus. Although the Robins Family was a notable family in Riddlesford, they were considered inferior to the Solari Family.
- Alas, he had no choice but to buck up despite this revelation just for the sake of his image.
