Chapter 19. We Would Be Lovers
- Lynda stood and watched him, feeling a mixture of bewilderment and joy at his reaction, no one had ever had that towards her, the slightest hint of possessiveness and the realization that she inspired that feeling in a man like him, made her smile excitedly, but Christian misinterpreted that smile; having only known manipulative women, he did not understand, or rather, he did not know the different nature of the young woman.
- "Do you enjoy making me jealous?" She raised her eyebrows at his question. "Of course, all women want that, to fool a man, to drive him mad, and when they have him at their mercy, to use him and discard him to find a new victim," he expressed thoughtfully, as memories of his mother and how she had behaved with his father came to his mind.
- A grimace of disgust crossed his face as he thought that if Lyn was the daughter of such a despicable being as Jonas and had such a nasty sister as Lynda, why on earth should she be any different from them if she had the bad blood of the Johnsons?
