Chapter 67
- Three days ago
- "Ray you have to calm down," his father said even though Ray was basically a statue. Bent over with his elbows resting on his knees, he hadn't said a word. But then again maybe that was the problem. The fact that he hadn't said or done anything ever since they arrived at the hospital was cause for concern. Everyone thought he was angry that because he was silent. After all, that's what he did. How could he say anything now though? What did they want him to say? He'd watched the EMTs try to revive her. He'd sat there just watching because there was nothing he could do.
- Never in his life had he felt so powerless, so useless. The love of his life was dying right in front of him and there was nothing he could do. He felt crippled. Even when they'd gotten her heartbeat back, he still felt like something was missing. He would come to realize later that a part of him had died when she did. They both came back but not wholly. At that moment, Alexis was being attended to, while her family surrounded him asking for details on what had happened. Ray hadn't found the strength to answer any of them yet. Now as to why his father thought he was angry, he didn't know. Especially when all he'd done was just sit there and think. Anger had to be the furthest thing he felt.
